Then send rods from dad to trigger a soft release.

Hmmm subtle contextual sarcasm is difficult on forums.

Whose dad?, mine is in an urn in a San Diego military cemetery

When you peel away the layers 'rods from dad' becomes Kinetic_bombardment

Dad's a tad patriarchal, maybe the lower case obscures the referent?

As for 'soft release' who knows. Are the rods hollow point?

Puncture the magma chamber before it's at full pressure just to see what happens. Maybe turn a Mt tamboura (year with out a summer aka eighteen hundred and froze to death) into a Mt saint Helens which was a minor inconvenience by comparison.
It's almost as bad as an idea as weather modification, but not quite.
Volcanoes can and have plunged us into nuclear winter possibly kick started an ice age or 5. Man is not in control of the climate.

So how would you test, at scale, whether it would puncture or plug the chamber?

It would be interesting to stitch together a rift, though.

Ones in the middle of nowhere, who cares.
How do you propose they monitor even one of them? They cannot 'see' the magma plug in 'real time'. If they could even position a recording array, by the time ( months ) it took to create a usable image, the volcano could have already erupted.

video, Part-4, A, 1-through-8

The general circulation models have accurately predicted, forwards and backwards, since around 1990.
The entire premise of the video is false. Probably why space weather gets no truck within the scientific community.
We should be worrying about dihydrogen monoxide poisoning!

man is not in control of the climate

Correct!
Man is only in control of anthropogenic climate forcing, via greenhouse gas emissions.

stitching a rift

That would be quite trick, as the crust is literally being stretched apart, like the Rio Grande River rift zone, from Colorado to Texas ( deeper than the Grand Canyon topography, when alluvial material is vacuumed away ).
