I feel badly about being so petty.

Mind Bull-own[ed]

Mountains are dust deposited in the Lambda Foot of supersonic shock waves. Dust stratified electrically and deposited all at once.

I know it's hard to believe but science has advanced since the 1990s.

muography

A year or so ago, PBS' NOVA, or Secrets of the Dead, broadcast a program about the Japanese team which scanned the Egyptian pyramid, using the cosmic particles as the scanning beam. Clever!
Seems like it took a rather long time, for enough particles to stream in, sufficient enough to collect an image.
I'm unsure how a sensor array, large enough to image a volcano's underlying magma chamber could be constructed, or how, an imaging team could receive enough funding to construct and bury it 'underneath.' The single cost might exceed the entire GDP of some nations. And there's thousands of volcanoes to monitor.

Part the Fourth:

Number #1 Unappreciated Forcing (vulcanism - 2a) is the only known unknown that is inferable from the geologic record. The dog that doesn't bark, conspicuous by it's absence.

(Hope the mods don't listen all the way through, they might not be amused. Needs said though.)

An interesting article. The claims and the responses in big white letters on red

The claim: A 'Grand Solar Minimum' will halt global warming -- False
The claim: Global warming is good -- [unrebutted]
The claim: Climate change action will make people poorer -- Needs more context
The claim: Renewable energy is dangerously unreliable -- Misleading

Quote:
Thousands of posts on social media, ... claim a "Grand Solar Minimum" will lead to a natural fall in temperatures, without human intervention....
A grand solar minimum is a real phenomenon when the Sun gives off less energy as part of its natural cycle.
These are called scare quotes.

More absolutist nonsense. No need to monitor ever single one. Just monitor the ones that will probably erupt to obtain a baseline of what it looks like then also the ones near populated areas that seem like they could be in danger of erupting where a 2 days notice could save a few hundred thousand people.
Ones in the middle of nowhere, who cares.

"Just monitor the ones that will probably erupt to obtain a baseline of what it looks like ...."

...and then train an adversarial generative AI to monitor their electrical signatures from orbit.
