I ordered a Maverick last night, an XLT hybrid configuration, and they're shooting for October or November delivery date which I'm sure could change.
It will replace my Volt and my Chevy 3500 truck. If something's too big to put in the bed I'll hook up my lawn trailer, if it's too heavy to tow in the trailer with the Maverick I'll tow it with my wife's Explorer which has a 5k tow package

Supposedly the only dealer stock will be the AWD turbo non hybrid models but they will build the less expensive fwd hybrids with customer orders.

Too bad they didn't include a plug-in option with a 16 kWh battery. That would have made the truck eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit, and allow for 35-40 miles of EV only range.

A plug-in version of that capacity can end up being cheaper than the non-plug version with the credit.

I'll be looking for an AWD hybrid version. They have that drivetrain in the Escape and adding AWD only reduced fuel economy 1 mpg so I see no reason not to get AWD AND the independent rear suspension that goes with it. I suspect the AWD Hybrid will come next year - after Ford ramps up production on the new assembly line. In makes sense to reduce complexity the first year of production especially with all the part shortages effecting the industry right now.

The PHEV will require Ford to increase their battery supply. They have some new battery plants in the works with SK so hopefully they ramp up quickly. The Escape PHEV has been delayed outside of the EU until 2022.

A Maverick AWD Hybrid PHEV would be best to compete with the RAV4 Prime.

Any reason other than the Maverick being a hybrid truck for you to replace both your current Chevrolets with a single Ford?

Had the Maverick been available three years ago I'd have bought one instead of getting the Volt

My 3500 gets around 10 mpg on a good day, is a single cab that seats three, is way overpowered for what I use it for these days, and it sits unused until the weekends. I work primarily from home now, but my commute to the office when I go in is 52 miles each way, and the Volt only gets marginally better mpg on the highway than the Maverick will.

I'll replace two vehicles with one and have less insurance, maintenance, parking space, etc . . . and the dealership I buy from has lifetime warranty on power train (ICE only). The Maverick will get 40 mpg around town, and I'm sure I'll beat that number so it seems like a good trade off for me to be able to drop down to a single vehicle but still get the basic benefits of both

And yeah, I like my hybrids too

Maverick PHEV and I might unload an old car and my antique truck

Plain hybrid not as much, especially without std cab + bench + long box

True I have a trailer but still easier if the truck can fit certain things without complexity

Also very unfortunate the hybrid isn’t on a lot for test drives, that puts us squarely into loss leader compliance territory

I'm sure a certain percentage of customer orders for the hybrid will get canceled after they are built or rejected for one reason or another after they arrive and therefore be on the lot occasionally. I bet a few smart dealers also find a way to end around that system with a personal order they use as a "demo" or something. It's a good marketing tool to stick up on the display rack with a big $21000! Price tag and 40 MPG! Even if all you do is try and upsell people to the $30,000 AWD turbo model.

Very true. It is important to remember that manufacturers' primary customers are their dealers. The dealers order vehicles to stock and the manufacturer make them to order.
