I'm doing it to save money, for the modding aspect, and the challenge. Ever since I was a kid big enough to sit up front in the passenger seat, driving has been a game to me.

For me, it's always about money... I've been trying to get better mileage than my dad and most of my family ever since I got my license.

But, even though gas prices are crazy low now, think about it... supply vs. demand.. even if supply goes up, demand will eventually decrease with the new technology out there and even those things that are just up and coming... when demand decreases, so does supply... and prices WILL go back up as a result... It will become less lucrative to produce in smaller amounts, and the end user will see the heat from it, in the form of prices so prohibitively high, it will eventually FORCE us to switch to something that may not have been "cheaper" or "doable" before.

Now, my uncle goes and buys a Prius... And drives it just like the average driver drives... wastefully.

So, I'll just get something that is more fun to drive, and meet or beat his efficiency... one day, he'll realize that it's not what you drive, but how you drive it.

By the way, he's the only person I know that gets sub-50 highway OR city in a Prius... He's never topped 45mpg, so at one point, I was matching him in my old Civic.

Yeah, I completely agree, but don't forget 9.

I love the competitiveness I see from the metro owners, it's hilarious when you tell people at work that you can get 60 MPG from a non-hybrid... STOCK.

I'm here for the clowns.
Send in the clowns,
Where are the clowns?

Plus,
I hate the fact that I started my adult life with the attitude
"Use the Earth... then Die"
That was my fathers attitude and I want to be better than that.
I am teaching my grandson to be better than that also.
He was the only one in the family that thought driving without the engine running was "Cool".
Now my kids and wife do as much as they can. We are all a little better off today and will be still more so tomorrow.

OK, I actually LOL'd.

Really why? Because the poll widget cut me off at 10 options.

You've got a compulsive disorder obsession?

I'm here for everything but "I'm not here about money" and "Sticking it to big oil." I'm all about the efficiency and reducing waste and saving money doing it. I also love the community here.

Efficiency is inherently awesome.

Worthy of deserving awe....

I'm doing it to save me money, for the caliber of people on this board, because the price of gas is going to go back up, and I like to get ideas for DIY stuff and fabricating things for my car.
