It was good--not Marvel's best, but still a solid comic book movie. Engaging story, relatable characters, and it ties up several loose ends in the MCU. It's clear they spent most of their CGI budget on de-aging Coulson and Fury and Captain Marvel's effects (all of which looked great), and none on the cat. There were a few scenes where the cat was CGIed and it looked like it was done by a freshman computer science student. I'll probably go see it again in the next couple weeks.

[QUOTE-All Darc]...in that film they had a supposed "Jordam Peterson" but in a female version. [/QUOTE]
I can see why it would appeal to you.
I looked at my DVD collection. Here's about 1/2 of the front row: Mars Attacks
Fight Club
Oh, Brother Where Art Thou
Dead Man*
Galaxina
Freeway
Blade Runner
The Big Lebowski
Kung Fu Hustle
Waterworld
Snatch *a Jarmuch film with Johny Depp, score by Neil Young
Gary Farmer has the best role.

"Waterworld" definitely needs a "How it should have ended."
Did anyone watch "Fathead?" This is the description:
Quote:
While most people saw the documentary Super Size Me as an expose of the fast food industry, comedian and former health writer Tom Naughton saw it as a dare: He'd show that you could lose weight on a diet of burgers and fries. In addition to chronicling Naughton's weight drop, the film provides interviews with doctors, nutritionists and others to drive home his thesis that most of what we know about "healthy eating" is wrong.

Did I mention that he also drastically increased his exercise? I cannot imagine that he lost twelve pounds in twenty-eight days through exercise alone or even mostly through exercise, but doesn't it seem like a confounding variable? Exercise is great and wonderful. I highly recommend it, but it still would have been awesome if he ate his McDonald's diet, exercised normally, and lost 9 - 10 pounds?
Someone asked him about confounding variables and he responded "Are you easily confounded and confused?"
If you built a boat tail, made wheel covers, and said you built a boat tail and improved fuel economy 12%, wouldn't we call you out for confounding variables?
Well, I finished my quizzes and the test. Aside from the final, I am halfway through the class, but there is not a midterm. At least we will have four days between the last test and the final instead of having three or four quizzes and a test all on consecutive days.
I am going to start working on my Civic tomorrow. Seriously, isn't that a one afternoon job? I should have time to watch both "Captain Marvel" and "Alita" this week. Yay.

Also a 'how to tether jetskis underwater in open ocean, so they pop up when you cut the tethers'.
This should be interesting:

I think I saw it, but don't recall. Better watch again.
Exercise has little to do with weight. I don't consider it much of a confounding factor unless the exercise was massively increased, like hours a day. That's besides the point anyhow; that you can eat McDonald's and be healthy.
All of these documentaries are pointless stunts anyhow. Maybe I should live on ice cream alone and make a documentary about how I lost my interest in ice cream, and wasn't particularly healthy.

My son got a plane seat next to Kevin Costner and they talked for a good hour. I asked him if he brought up Waterworld... no joy. That guy has made some great movies though. He was filming a TV show up here called Yellowstone or something. We tried to watch, got maybe 8 episodes in and had to bail. Nobody in Montana behaves like those loser characters. It was like Dynasty, Montana style. Now Dances With Wolves on the other hand was great. I'm kind of partial to The Postman as well, but I love Tom Petty and I'm a postman so there is that.

Would it be too much work to take the "Fathead" part of this thread and add it to this one: https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthre...ion-26830.html ?
Naughton went from walking two evenings a week to six. I do not remember him saying how far he walked before the experiment. I thought he said he was walking twenty-five miles, but the transcript is not available, and I am not watching it again. The only source that I can find is:
Quote:
In the film Naughton mentions that he walks in his spare time for a bit of exercise, but I don’t think he ever mentions how much. However, Naughton is interviewed by Jimmy Moore on his Livin’ La Vida Low Carb podcast shortly after the film’s release and (if memory serves) says he walked 15-20 miles per week while filming his documentary.

A blog. Yay.
He was about fifty when he made the film. He says he is 5'11" and went from 204 to 192 pounds. Putting 50 years, 71 inches, and 198 pounds into https://keisan.casio.com/exec/system/1350891527 it says he burned 397 calories a night, so 2,382 calories a week, and 9,528 calories over the experiment.
"Because 3,500 calories equals about 1 pound (0.45 kilogram) of fat, it's estimated that you need to burn about 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound." https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-l...s/art-20048065
In theory he would have lost 2.7 pounds from walking, although that page recommends cutting calories partially by cutting fat. It recommends skim milk instead of whole and fruit instead of ice cream.
It kind of suggests that carbohydrates, or at least sugars are okay, just not fat.
I just wish it covered the minimum nutrients for healthy weight loss.
Would I trust Runner's World over Mayo? I do not know, but this article makes a good argument that you need to burn 7,000 calories to lose one pound of fat, so Naughton would have lost 10.65 pounds from "diet," or 88.75% of the total. Is it a big deal? Members here would call me out for being over 10% off.

Healthy is subjective. Christian Bale went down to something like 120 lbs for The Machinist. Healthy? Later that year he went up to something like 185 for Batman.
It seems there isn't a consistent "healthy" diet that can be applied to all. Some people seem to do well on a keto or paleo diet, others not as well.
Lately I've increased my lipid intake, mostly because it doesn't cost any more (2% vs whole milk), and it tastes better. I'll cook hashbrowns in leftover bacon grease. I feel the same as always and my weight is on the lighter side.
