It had been a few months since riding in a relatives tractor trailer, this was the bill for 137 gallons.

but as many hypermilers know to figure mileage, some forget that there is 40 tons on the 5-6mpg (that one fact actually makes cars seem WAY inefficent even at 40mpg) and houses getting built with lumber delivered. "Trucks make the world go round", so it is not all that much a shock...unless it is for some crazy guy and his turbo diesel hick dodge pickup gone mad, driving around by themself, hillbilly stacks and lucky to haul 10000 pounds without breaking something...those are the repulsive ones.

A buddy drives Isuzu NPR 2-tons for a different department at work; the tanks hold 33 gallons. At $4.52 / gal that's about $150 per fill. Yowza.

Well, it's their toys and they can do what they want with them... I guess. But that tug of war... who won? I think they both lost in engine wear and structural stress.

Exactly, I've seen some of those tug of war things with the game ending with the transmission or something blowing up (all I know is that a bunch of oil/liquid spilled everywhere).

Maybe instead of replacing their transmission (whatever that broke), they chose to buy a fuel efficient vehicle. Wait who am I kidding.

Heh heh.... well... I did spend over $100 filling my tank kinda recently...
But but but... I did manage to go 700 miles (27mpg) on the previous tank. Best tank ever!

A couple of those videos actually made me just slightly sick to the stomach.

At least in that first video with the F-650, it had a backup camera. Too bad that was in addition to, instead of a replacement for those HUGE rearview side mirrors!!!

The first time I ever saw a gas pump showing over $100 worth of gas, I took a photo of it. That was years ago.

I also once had to borrow money from my dad to buy gas. He loaned me a $100 bill. I put less than $20 in my tank. When I paid for it, the clerk punched in one too many zeros, he couldn't figure out how to void/adjust it, and decided to just fix the books at the end of the day, so I had a receipt for something like $982 in change.
