I am using black PVC, I think. What I like about it is it is capable of absorbing and holding heat longer than the dryer hose I originally used. I imagine that means on longish drives it becomes quite warm and helps heat or sustain the heat of the air pulled from over the exhaust manifold. Keep in mind that the shape and texture of the tube affects sound and I have seen smart people claim that it effects efficiency too, even though one would imagine the throttle plate would undo any effects engineered into the intake tubing.

BTW, hey, your mention of an intercooler tipped me off that I misunderstood... you have the 1.4 turbo and not the 1.8 NA! Didn't mean to dis your ride. That turbo is still a great vehicle choice. Much simpler than a hybrid or EV (which are also fascinating but I guess not for me yet).

Don't feel bad about the dis. I was plugging at it myself. I think with the gearing I have in the eco with the 1.8 I could manage better numbers since EOC would be more prevalent. With this car there seems to be no sweet spot for acceleration. Once u hit 50% load instant mpg drops of like a cliff. At least with every NA car I have owned there is what I like to call a sweet spot. Especially the explorer accelerate pretty solid getting 18 mpg once it's warm. Gonna override the tcc lockup on that. Toggle switch. Think I'll be able to reach 28 with that alone. 30 mpg will be aero on there. Anyways I'll look into pvc fittings and measure things out. Do u think I will have adverse effects since the intercooler?

That is beyond my experience/knowledge to answer. One reason I shun more complex machines for me even though I admire the engineering is my inability to fully understand them (as of now). Hopefully one of our more expert fellas will chime in!

I planned on staying away from ethanol in general. Plastic gas tank...plastic eating ethanol....doesn't seem like a grand idea lol. It seems my car detests e10 already I wouldn't want to be pouring anything higher into it ever. Besides I would rather eat not burn it

How much is e0 by you I can get mid grade 89 e0 for around $2.60 a gal. I think it's unreal the difference between the fuel maps in my car. Yes I'm hypermiling but 8-9 mpg difference between 87 octane and 91(or whatever the shell premium nitro is maybe 93) haven't changed route or driving techniques. Maybe trying a little harder can't really calibrate effort lol. Still doesn't make up for increased cost but better for engine I suppose. And I can get regular 91 cheaper elsewhere. If numbers stay the same maybe worth the slight cost per mile improvement. Get 15% improvement to fuel economy for 25-30% increase in cost. Runs good on 89 e0 tho so may return to that for cost effectiveness since that does pay for itself. There isn't any 87 e0 around here. Hoping to get in top 10 and stay there lol tank of gas a month basically. 13 gallons a month if I get 55 mpg and just do my work commute. Working on WAI to hopefully boost 55-60 mph numbers atm. Want to be able to hold 55 mpg there. Also looking at tweaking underbody panels adding a little bit to a few places for a bump to aero to help around 60 mph.

Love that term!

As far as OP's question about emissions control system deletes evening out pollution in dizzzles...Most likely it is doing much more harm than good as far as emissions go. Carbon dioxide production directly correlates to fuel consumption, so CO2 will go down, however, NOx will shoot up. NOx is something like 200 times more potent of a greenhouse gas than CO2 if I remember correctly.

From experience with 2 FFV GM's I loose 18-20% mpg with E85 vs E10 so I wouldn't be E85 there. But when I fill up the impala at near home E10 was $2.23 yesterday and E85 was $1.80 right at the break even for cost per mile.

There must be less active people filling up, I used to struggle to say on the 2nd page of MPG or % over EPA(top 100), I haven't changed anything but now in the 30s.

Have you read any of the info on converting a Cruze(some Cobalts) to Flex Fuel, apparently all the fuel maps are in there just needs turned on, but the fuel maps aren't optimized for E85 so maybe you are even seeing that with low E blends. I'd like to turn it on in my Cobalts, but $600 to try to save a few penny's is bad math.
Yeah I can't see the tune paying for itself for me. 5-600$ for a tune for what 3-4 mpg if your lucky. I think I'm squeezing everything out of my fuel I can already. Would need to upgrade injectors to a larger size and get the tune so guessing overall cost would be 700$ or so. Wonder how long it would take to make up for that? If I get say 55 average from here on out. 3-4 mpg increase really isn't much..7% 2.50$ a gal roughly say 14 gal a month...yeah that's only 35$ a month say 7% less is 2.50$ less. 30$ saving a year for me. 23 years it would be payed off lol sounds like bad math to me.

Extra thought I went from averaging about 23 mpg in a Monte Carlo to 50s in a Cruze. Gas cost was in the 90s now 35$ a month. 660$ a year gas savings.15-16 years to pay for the car

New high water mark set at 59.1. 1 mpg below DIC but I will take it. With that I am in the top 10! Will see what happens now with new tires. Other than it being a quiet ride. Making America great again lol yes I do believe my Cruze was made in the USA.

If you have the Sedan it was built in Ohio. If you have the hatch, it was built in Mexico, according to Car and Driver Magazine. Either way, it was built in North America!
