I think the Facebook project is going rather well. On average a single post reaches about 150 Facebook members. We've just reached 300 likes for the page. People tend to enjoy the custom projects and modifications. Here are a couple interesting stats:
- Men ages 25-34 make up 40% of our page fans
- 7% of our fans are women, 20% of our post viewers are women

I generally take the pulse of the forum (a comprehensive look at stats) at the beginning of each month. It takes a bit of time... I could spend half of every day doing it!
I'll report back in a week or so, and will include some Facebook-relevant info.
The average US gas price is at a multi-month low (approaching a 1-year low) and still dropping, so I don't expect to see any increases. So, average daily hits are also at multi-month lows, not surprisingly. Though that stat can be independent of forum activity, ie. new threads/posts from active members.
Remember, though: this is all normal! Ebb & flow.

Brief stats update: US gas prices have continued to drop since starting the Facebook project. Average price is around ~2.5 year lows & still dropping. It's still the dominant factor driving forum activity.

Actually, new member signups were at an all-time low for Oct.
Find a graph of gas prices. Replace the "gas price" axis label with "forum activity" and it works pretty well. Historical Gas Price Charts - GasBuddy.com
One thing that's relatively steady (down only slightly this month) is the "new posts" stat. We obviously have a steady core group of people who are here because the subject interests them beyond just the pocketbook.
As for FB activity: incoming FB visitors have climbed up list of referring sites, to position #13 (desktop) and #15 (mobile). Contributing about 945 combined pageviews in the last 30 days.

Might need to change posts there to the most popular ones here. Find stuff more engaging and perhaps searchable.

I've been thinking about this too. I really think threads like BZP's single wheel trailer and truck aero cap threads would help bring in more members. (There are numerous other great threads, but those are an example.) I think we need to do something similar to the home page here, where popular and engaging or novel and original threads are posted to give a synopsis of what EM is all about.

I agree - many of those threads seem worthy of going on the FB page.
I'm actually just about to do a bit of work on the "featured threads" on the home page. Currently it shows only the latest ~20 threads, but there are actually something like ~130 in total that have been "featured" at some point. I'm going to add pagination so once they drop off the bottom of the home page, visitors will still be able to click through to see the list. There are a lot of classics in there.

schedule for volunteer FB editors?
I got a PM from one of our FB editors, who was somewhat alarmed that the page hasn't been updated in a coon's age. Oops.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, maybe we need a sort of schedule to keep things going so it doesn't fall off the radar.
Those who are still interested in the project, how do you feel about going on a "rotation"? Even if each of us posts just one or 2 links each week that we're "on duty", that would be worthwhile, no?

Hadn't realized its been so long since last posted. Just finished the fall semester of school then started building a parts list for a 4x4 project i'm planning this summer. I'll have to start hanging out around here and posting
