Forza George

Forza 4 will include George

Quote:
Sometimes good things come in small packages. The Aygo is very, very small. So does this mean it’s very, very good? It’s clear there’s one thing it excels at… soccer (or the game our European friends call football). The agile little Aygo is famous for being the star of an impromptu 5-on-5 pickup game on BBC’s TopGear, clad in sports uniform livery and played on an asphalt pitch. The cheeky stunt was not only fun, it did a good job of showing off the Aygo’s dynamic personality. With a happy face and neat detailing, like the multi-element rear lamps, it’s a cheerful car for happy urbanites. And the motor may have just three cylinders, but it’s an eager partner in any urban adventure, even if those adventures don’t involve punting an oversized soccer ball towards a giant goal—although with the free DLC car soccer environment, you can do that too.

If I were you I'd be getting more Coroplast and get an undertray on that thing before partaking in any "auto" sports

much like a cricketer wears a cap..

Maybe, but its something to do when the weather turns cold.

Speaking of cold the nostril blocks are not in due to heavy rain and strong winds.

Welcome to the use of my unit one day for somewhere dry to do the undertray.

I'm still thankful for that idea. At the moment even getting outside the house to block nostrils is hard in terms of time, and George is still a "pampered" car (i.e. under a warranty) and Toyota Stealers are not impressing much. We will look at that again though. I would like to see the 535 and the "320Thunderbirds" private island.

Anyway - Nostrills - this is not a grill block as he has no grill. But now both nostrils are blocked.

Obviously this has probably about 0.001% effect on aero but the idea is to prevent any cooling to the intake, although evidence suggests there is no effect due to the fact the air filter is on top of the engine and therefore heated.

(Being lazy, this is a generic Aygo not George...)

As tapped earlier most of the front is already blocked, only this part of the lower grill is open now, where the tiny radiator is.

This may be worth looking at in winter but the underside is still a mess.

.

As mentioned on another thread on Insight aerodynamics, and earlier in this thread, George has "African Elephant" ears as opposed to Indian Elephant ones.

I may look to folding in the passenger side one and adding another blind-spot mirror to compensate on the bypass and motorways.

I checked the tyres today on a fillup (nothing special in terms of MPG) and they were down to 34-36, so back up to 45.

Nice work on the Nostrils- Certainly looks tidy and secure..

Do tyou intend to seal off the engine bay totally?

Also, the most important thing at the unit is the kettle

Thumbs down

The nostril block (anti snoring measures ?) have made no difference to the intake temps, or nothing noticeable so far.

I would like to mod further like these:

But at the same time I'm thinking I won't see any changes in the journeys I have to do (Midlothian, west Embra and the A720) on top of what I have gained so far due to techniques. This is mainly due to traffic which I can't really do anything about - no alternative routes and I don't have the flexibility of trying different times because of work and family schedules.

So I'm going to call it a day, maybe for a while at least.

Nice nostril blocks They may arguably look better in white, but getting the exact hue may not be easy.

Any plans to cover the lower grille from the outside?

I have no plans for any more mods at all, I may become an Eco-non-modder Actually that is slightly true, I have plans but no intention / motivation or time.

I may seem like I'm in a sulk, and maybe I am - or maybe at least a half sulk. I'm kind of like D0simatr (spelling) a few weeks ago when he posted a thread about giving up - I'm not seeing many (if any) benefits of mods other than to me as the "nut behind the wheel".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about my change to George or the changes I have made - George is saving me about £200 a year in insurance and £110 a year in taxes before I even drive him. He is also quieter, better riding and more relaxing even with narrow tyres at 45 PSI.

My "one person on ignore" will no doubt say I am engaged in whining, so I thought I would tap it first - hi T....

But most of my journeys are short and urban. My trip to work and family commitments mean biking or walking is out - the journey is too long. But it is also too short to see a measurable gain from aero mods, and it has a lot of crawling traffic so no engine off opportunities, and a lot is crawling up hill. I can't change when I travel either.

And as winter is now here meaning dark nights after work (yeah right, its 10:30 pm here and I'm still working ) results in no time to really crack on and do more stuff. Weekends are (rightly) spent with A-junior as much as I can so no mods there too.

So, for the moment at least, I'm done.

OK, I get it: You're hoping that a few of us will drop by and make that boattail for you.
How much beer you got? I'll bring the kielbasa
