Balto, as soon as you and Metro have this sorted out, I'll install mine. I was afraid of jumping in without knowing exactly how it works, especially with my (very) limited electrical skills. You make a perfect guinea pig!

I just want a button next to regen button on my shifter that forces an autostop at any speed, and makes it stay off until I release the button, and then re-start normally. I don't care if I have to hold the button down the whole time to keep it off, I'm used to that already with the brake regen button, but I definitely want the car to be able to re-start itself normally after I release the button.
I personally can't phantom why it lugs at 150 - 300rpmish 50-75% of the time I try to kill the engine. There is no spark, and the car isn't in gear, how the hell is the motor turning over?

I would like to add though, my city mileage went through the roof with this mod. On a cold start to the bank, my best trip was like 42-45mpg, and I got 54 no problem. If I can sort out this lugging issue, I'll be golden. I don't think there will ever be a tactic where you won't have to hold down the clutch, I just want the engine to die when I flip the switch while holding in the clutch. I may go the injector kill route combined with the ignition coil kill route just for added effect, but I have got to learn how relays work first.

Maybe the assist motor is turning it over? But you said you tried it with your clutch switch engaged, right? This is what scares me about a kill switch in this particular car!

Let me explain this a little more clearly so we can brainstorm this.

In neutral with clutch not pushed in and Calpod switch NOT activated = car will run the IMA motor to try and start the motor, don't know if it's spraying fuel into the cylinders.

Car in neutral, foot pressing the clutch = 50-75% of the time it just lugs at 150 - 300rpmish until I flip my switch again which then about 25% of the time it just lugs again.

It's the same story if I try to activate the Calpod.

My question is this, would it be possible to put a relay in line with my coil kill switch, so as long as I keep the switch flipped (I'm using a light switch btw) it will keep the motor off, by simulating the clutched being pushed in at the same time? I don't like this, as I would lose the auto stop functionality but if that's how it's gonna be, so be it.

I'm at a loss to understand what's going on with your car, Balto.

It worked perfectly in my car, and I just did a quick search at InsightCentral and wasn't able to find any obvious thread where someone's car had the same symptoms you're describing.

Are your climate control and all defrost settings switched off? Autostop won't normally work if you have it running on either max setting (hot/cold) or defrost. Maybe that's what's trying to restart the engine.

I'd post a dedicated thread to try to sort this out here, or at InsightCentral.

The little black button on the top is the only button on the switch. The rest is just wiring.

Metro, did you just kill the coils like Balto, or was it an injector kill? I'd really like to add a kill switch since there's really no way to EOC right now, but I'm confused on what works best, and I don't want to hurt the Turtle since it took so long to find it!

I'd like to work it our over here with you guys since a lot of the people over at IC seem to be a little on the arrogant side, and they have no sense of humor. I'm always afraid to ask anything over there since it just seems to get all the old timers fighting, and you never get an actual answer, just a lot of yammering back and forth

Go to RadioShack and get the smallest spade connectors you can, they come in a pack. The coil kill method, even if it funks like mine does, isn't going to cause any damage per se, you just won't wanna use it. You're gonna have to file down the spade connector though as they are to wide to fit in the fuse slot.
