rough numbers
It's Tuesday (it is isn't it?)
My 8 year old Grandson is running around the house
shooting everything with his cap-gun (I think the dog has died about twenty times now) and I can't find my old log book. (I bought a new one for the trip,
fully believing I would find the old one when I got home)
Now for some rough numbers
Fill up before leaving town 8.1 gallons, miles ???????
trip to W.Va. ...................7.806 gallons, miles 369 = 47.27 mpg
(runs bad, climbing 9% grade at 30 mph, rarely go over 55)
run around Kistler............2.183 gallons, miles 92 = 42.14 mpg
(this was the test and tune phase, not counting this really)
trip home............................7.844 gallons, miles 362 = 46.15
(runs great, 9% grade at 70 mph, rarely under 70 mph)
(Barb says, " Alright Cap'nSlo, you're gonna have to change your plate")
So it looks as if I get 46 mpg @ 70 mph
What does that work out to @ 55 mph ???????
We'll find out soon, I'm driving the carpool this week.

So how was the ride with the new seats? I bet that really improved the comfort level for the trip.

The ride is way more comfortable than before.
Enough so that I can now be the car pool car.
My pool buddy is over 300# and couldn't sit in the old seat without hindering my shift-ability.
Now he's comfy and I can shift without hitting him constantly.
My wife likes them too and that was the reason for the swap anyway.

After readin this thread I feel obligated to buy a Metro. Remember when it was a bad thing to be envious of a Metro owner?

The clinical name for what you have is, "GEOENVY" and there is no cure, save buying one yourself and passing the disease to everyone around you...

Hacksaw, Thanks for the diagnosis and remedy. There is one on Craiglist for $200 needs an engine. 1.0l runs rough.
Oh forgot to ask, Is vaseline required by all Metro owners? I had a friend that had one and he was from the Bayou I am almost positive he probably had some.
I feel like I need it every time I pull into a gas station. Our gas tax is nearly $.90 per gallon here.

For $200.00 you better scarf it up now! I bet it's gone already.
Most of the time when they state "needs engine" is usually nothing more than a teardown and rebuild on these cars.

47 mpg @ 30-55 mph vs. 47 mpg @ 70 mph? I got the impression the trip home has more downhill in it, no?
Anyway those numbers have my attention. Looking forward to the carpool numbers this week...

Yes it is more downhill toward home
I live at sea level and Coyote is 1500 feet up.
Take into consideration the oxygen deficiency as well.
