I miss the Del Sol with Neptune on a P28 ecu. The Civic before that was running a Haltech stand alone and my sons Civic was running a P28 with CROME.

My Talon lean burn range is 30 to 35:1 light load freeway, 20 to 22:1 mid load, and now 14.5 to 15.5 low boost 13 psi. and 11.8 to 12.8:1 high boost 14psi. to 50 psi.

My last Del Sol lean burn numbers were close to the same at light load freeway but every other load I was running around 11.8 to 12.8:1.

The Talon gearing is very low compared to the Del Sol. At freeway 65 to 70 mph I'm at 3000 rpm to 3100 rpm.

My roof didn't leak but it sure was squeaky. lol

When i first bought the car it had baby powder on the roof rubber. So as soon as I got it home I wipe all the baby powder off and took it for a drive, within two blocks from my house I realized why the baby powder was on the rubber

06/28 02:00 PM
103*F
13% H
27.53 Hg

I don't know how you guys do it in the warmer states? Its been over 95*F for the last 5 days and I haven't been able to even look at or work on my car.

I had my car tore apart every day before this heat wave and now I can't even look at it without feeling sick. I have zero interest in gathering data and info. Its just to dang hot.

As soon as I bring it into the garage the heat spikes up to 98*F or more. It takes for ever for the engine to cool down. I think I'm turning into a puss. lol

Anyway, my hats off to all the people that fight with the heat.

By the way the Pacific NW is drying up big time.

Take lots of salt.

When it gets down to 90°F out here, I get under the car and truck to change the oil. The cement driveway is ok under the car. Other than that I stay in the shed with the doors open for the breeze.

I was working on a 280Z and had a thermometer sitting on the windshield wiper outside in the sun (where I did triage). It was a cooling system thermometer and read 160 degrees when I noticed it. Thermostat opening temperature was 180.

I drove home yesterday in 95 temps and left the ac off, had a little wet spot where the shoulder harness was riding on the right side of my chest. My shop was air conditioned, not good enough to get it below 85 on hot days, but the lower humidity was almost as important as the temperature. 99 degrees with 99% humidity is worse than 120 with 10%.

A long time ago I worked in a shop that had a flat tar covered roof. It got so hot the tar would melt and drip through the roof down onto your hair, which you then ripped out.

I wore shop rags soaked in water fountain water to keep my brain from overheating wrapped around each arm at the shoulder.

regards
mech

Once, just for gits and shiggles, I slid my probe thermometer into the vent and turned on my logging thermometer, and kept the windows up and the heat on recirculate the whole way home.

The output from the vent hit 165 degrees, but the cabin topped out at about 135. It was 95 degrees outside that day, and humid as hell.

My wife says I'm insane. Some days I think she may be onto something.

After looking closely at one of my 95*F test run logs, I think I have max out this combination as far as freeway FE is concern? Around 45 mpg with the waste solvent disable has been my personal best. I was considering making a belly pan and a full grill block but now I think I'm going to call it good.

All my attention is going to be on my waste solvent system. I'm running a 50/50 mix right now and its working great in this high heat were having. In fact I did some hill-billy testing and have my lawn mower running on a 60/40 waste solvent mix at 95*F.

My next project is to build a 1 liter lean burn 13g turbo 91 Talon FWD manual 5 speed transmission. This car will have all the stock interior, with all mods built for FE only. My goal is to get around 65+ mpg.
