On Copper Plating:
It seems a thin layer is way easier than Electro-plating!
This video was my 1st: "Wait WHAT!??" moment:
They have another: LOL!
Some googling later, here's how it's done:
What I like about this, besides the simplicity, is that it seems to form the thin "porous" layer alluded to in the white paper.
A thick shiny layer of copper, with it's dissimilar coefficient of expansion is likely to flake off of rapidly heating and cooling heads and valves and get itself wedged between piston, rings and sleeve.
I know what you're thinking:
A thin layer like this wont last. It will oxidize off in a matter of minutes.

Now, while there are a good number of other gasses in a combustion chamber during the power stroke, THAT explains a lot as to why this works/worked so well in the paper doesn't it!!
NB that red hot copper + super heated steam = H2
(It's discovering this kind of thing that gives me a semi! )

Copper:
It goes deeper than that: It's a 'lubricant' that fills wear scars too!?
That means you don't have to stop at plating the head and piston top, you can 'plate' the sleeves too!!!
(You've got to be careful here: Mention bearing surface treatments and some airhead is likely to jump out and demand that it wont work and not to try it!)

Yes, I have four back up testing engines now. Two of them are ready to test. The other two are prepping for a new block fill I'm testing for another company.
I'm still trying to figure out how to make a single cylinder engine that wouldn't cost me my bank account. lol One of my concerns after giving it some thought on doing a single cylinder test bed is that the other three missing cylinders effect on pulling the single cylinder through its three "nonpower stroke" cycles.
So, my thoughts are to finish making my run engine test stand and use my engines that are already done and ready to go. It definitely will save on cost. Then there is the thought I could just use the Camaro as the test stand. After doing some simple math I could change out one test piston and rod by myself in about an hour and 45 minutes. I'm leaning this direction because it will give 100% real test results. I keep all the benefits of a true test, Heat generated from the other three cylinders, torsional stress, exhaust mass and pulse widths, and the big one the lack of the power generated from the other three cylinders.
The single cylinder test engine would have helped me in the early stages of piston spray guided testing, but I think I'm past that stage now. My latest test on the Talon "72 mpg" has shown me that there isn't much low hanging fruit left over gains in my design.
There are three major things that are needed with my engines design. First is the static and dynamic compression. Static and dynamic compression I will address later because it's going to open up a can of worms on here with some back lash from people. Exhaust Mass is the third. I need all four cylinders to get the mass needed to make this work. During light load extreme lean burn the exhaust mass drops drastically. I'm running at negative 0.2 psi to a positive 1.0 psi load. This helps with the exhaust mass needed to obtain the positive pressure that's also needed for zero throttle pumping loss and high air lean combustion.

It's a common practice in the industry, as I have been told by an engineer who worked at the Brazilian branches of Cummins and Ford.

My F1 friend that worked for RB Honda was in charge of the single cylinder group. I learned a ton from him on just the things he could share.
If I get on board with potential engine company, I will use their money to do a single cylinder test engine. The GCI part of my design is in its infancy. I would Love to play with this part by utilizing a single cylinder.
Maybe it would still be useful for you somehow.

1/11/2025 UPDATE:
Got the FE modified intake mock upped. This Intake has the N20 system I use for FE to increase flame speed during extreme Lean-Burn 30:1. I'm going to use this during the drive part of Drag and Drive events. Then switch out the intake, injectors and T/B as a whole to the race manifold injectors and large T/B. Also, when I'm daily driving it or street driving during a Drag and Drive event I'll be using the rear 16-gallon pump gas fuel cell.
Also added front vertical bars to the front fenders. After calculating the down force, it had me worried so went ahead and added these bars. Once again, their mocked up and will have grade eight bolts and an added .1875 steel backing plate.
