Then it would be more accurate to compare the Accord with a Camry instead of a Prius, but anyway, retaining the Prius as some sort of sub-brand, just like Toyota does with the Crown in Japan, seems to make sense even if hybrid versions of the Corolla and Camry may outsold them. You'll always find some tech geek willing to be a Guinea pig for some development of a new Prius, while the Corolla, Camry and Crown may sound "boring" to them.

Who said i was comparing them? I just said i wanted an accord, but noticed how cheap the prius was and went with that instead lol. Hybrids and EVs have pretty large depreciation.

Even though you were more concerned about the prices, that was still an aspect to compare both

The Prius 2 wasn't my first choice either. But they're cheap and plentiful.
I call it a "birth control vehicle".

The car's supposed to be 2-inches lower.
Don't know about frontal area and CdA.
So they've caught up with the 1996 EV1, and just short of the 1990 Cd 0.196 ROVOMOBIL cardboard and duct tape special, and Cd 0.195, 1978 Daimler-Benz' M-B C-111 III ( M-H ).
Glad to see it!

has a photo, not exactly 'true-length, but something aerodynamically informative

I'm seeing why Toyota waited to reveal the cD.
It's point 26, with Car & Driver giving an official figure from Toyota of .27
That's worse than the previous generation, and just matches the second.
"Perhaps surprisingly, the new Prius is not more aerodynamic than the old one. Toyota claims a drag coefficient of 0.27 compared with the old car’s 0.24. Dimensionally, it’s 1.1 inch longer, 0.9 inch wider, and between 1.8–2 inches lower than before, depending on trim level."
(I had high hopes that it was under .20 though. Bummer )

Is there any factual reason for the newer Prius to have grown in width and lenght? Well, it may not be much of an aerodynamic penalty regarding lenght, but width often may lead to some aerodynamic penalty.

Because, U.S. Americans and their (our?!) lust for big, spacious vehicles. If you go over to the Priuschat forum a lot of socalled would-be-buyers are saying they won't get the fifth gen Prius because it's not tall enough for them. Aparently Prius driver are all more than 2M/6'6" tall and sit straight up.
Well, that and bigger side impact cruch zones make the interior smaller unless you make the car wider.
And mind you the new Prius doesn't seem to be trying to be as much of a gas-sipper as before and more of a sports car. In 2054 you will be hard pressed on whether the Prius or the Corvette is the faster choice.

As I said, the Prius didn't need to get more efficient, it needed to grow a pair. Apparently the new one has, so it should be better...
That said, the Gen III ground clearance was as low as a vehicle should go. The main mounts to my undertray were ground off, and I scraped like mad going up "Ed's Trail" even using extreme steering and carefully picking my lines.
The car should not have gone lower, but many people complained about handling (I bet 99% take corners slower than me). Now they get a stiffer, scrapier ride.
