I guess you can recognise at least the VW Beetle

The black car behind it is a Brazilian derivative of the Opel Corsa B, rebadged locally as a Chevrolet.

Even though Volkwagen still held a leadership of the Brazilian market through most of the production run of the Chevrolet Corsa, nowadays it seems like the Corsa is outlasting the Gol of the same timeframe.

There were times when a compact sedan was actually compact

What a strangely proportioned car.

Reminds me of the small "trunk-ified" sedans in the Indian market that exist because of regulation.

Trust me, this is not so out of proportion compared to the hatchback on which it was based.

It's a little longer than these Indian sedanettes. BTW I have already seen both the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire (at least 2 generations of it) and the Hyundai i10 personally, and they look quite proportionate.

Back in the 1980s & 1990s I was living in the UK and there seemed to be a lot of ugly cars produced by adding a boot onto an existing hatchback. Horrible things like the Vauxhall Belmont, which never sold well I think. There was a Daihatsu but I can't remember what they called it. Also unpopular. Others as well but, thankfully, time has erased my memories of them. Best forgotten - neither one thing nor the other.
