Figaros were all one colour too - that green in the ad, but I see quite a few of them here usually having been resprayed a different colour. This morning I was passed by a yellow one.
It took a while for it to pass, what with a 1.0 K10 Micra and 3sp Auto underneath.

I think they came in an off white as well. I have seen quite a few of them here, all either green with white interior, or white with red interior.

RARE project VW kit car
This looks interesting for $1000. I think I read the body weighs 750# add to that a VW floor pan and suspension, then a simple interior. It looks pretty aero, I have seen one in real life and it is low with a nice gental fastback.
What would be the way to power? Electric, VW, motorcycle?

FT Bonito?
The standard way to do it is with a VW flat 4, you can get them in 1600 or 2L, then put some Webers on it, and you'll have a pretty good sporty car.
For economy, something else is probably better (watercooled, EFI, perhaps less displacement, or indeed electric.

This is an earlier model than the GT-12 but has the same side scoop, roofline and windows. Different headlights. For better ingress/egress and aerodynamics, clone the Volkhart-Saggita.
The VW floorpan is archaic. You could substitute the Inrekor flatpack floorpan:

The suspension would be light-years ahead and it would weigh less.
Magnetic drive is the future, here now with junkyard OEM parts. I would favor the Toyota MGR overvolted with a boost inverter, and with its optional external oil cooler. Summit Racing has refurb battery packs for $2000. All the parts you need are at OpenEV Store - OpenEV Store or EVTV Motor Verks Store
I saw one EV conversion at the Bugrun this year, it was I think DC with Lithium batteries. They were saying hold on for a little while. I've put my own EV conversion on hiatus.

Looks like 240 pound raw body. There is some debate if it was designed by Kellison but it was marketed and sold by Allied. Look like around the world as well as there are some vintage ads from the Philippines with the same car. I don't think I'm in any position to buy this but would like to have it.

Like with the Nova/Sterling, there is a murky backstory. The version marketed in the Phillipines was the EMX.
From http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/posting.php?mode=quote&p=5812809:
Quote:
Astra VW-GT 2+2: A VW-based kit that vaguely resembled a Ford GT, but appeared to be roughly based on a Fiberfab Aztec. It was made by Allied Fiberglass, but I don't know if Kellison had anything to do with its design or production.

Jim Kellison had his hand in a lot of things.
If it has the doors and glass it's probably worth $1000 (I presume less engine). The wheels alone are worth $100-150. The first hurdle would be hanging the doors.

Avoid kits unless very simple like Lotus 6, 7 or 11.

I am glad the body isn't attached to the pan. I have an empty transport truck coming back up from Seattle tomorrow...but they cant move it on a truck in pieces. That's what I'll tell myself. I don't need it, but man I want it!! haha.
