The side panel was a success, 1630 grams, probably 1690 with the supports to go on. Well below the 2kg target. Battery covers and brackets, not bolted have to put some draught strip so it's mostly airtight

This is absolute insanity, I love it.

not sure about the structural integrity of thin plywood doors, but i can definitely take some tips for removing weight out of the back of mine so that i can carry more luggage

Who knows, the support strips turned out to be 3g each so thats pretty good so 1651g plus glue, paint and filler. I don't really have a final vehicle weight or mpg goal just to reduce the parts I can. There will be alot under the bonnet I can do but thats all framed up right now. The wheels will have to wait until next year but will be easy, just to make one mould.

There are no plywood doors, that was part of a mould creating process and are non-structural panels. The front doors will be x axis 1000g carbon fiber and 1000g 1000d kevlar with kevlar impact bars. I estimate to be 13kg and I'm thinking of no window winders so maybe less

by x axis I mean the cross section laminate thickness

That makes a lot more sense, i didnt think plywood was lighter than carbon fibre.

Whats the overall weight of the car these days?

I would'n't know and to me it's immaterial. Making it as light and aerodynamic as possible is important but it depends on what you need from a motor vehicle. 680kg and .22 would be a fair estimate once it's finished but again many other factors effect the vehicles performance and contribution to net worth

back to subject... I did make some mini triangle profile supports for the flat floor but will make I beams, from the ones I did on the door were way stonger and on a flat surface will be easier

Mclaren are supposed to be making a family car 800kg but it won't have a range above 150. Unless the motor flux is from ceremaic neodymium, not sure if the Japanese managed to mass produce it yet

Cutting out the wheel well. I never did like it. With the bracket underneath I don't use it's 3.9kg down. The quickly made replacement is 600g glass

The boot section, not my neatest cf but nice and strong. Also I need to spray before november so the front nose section changes I've decided to scrap for this year

According to a calculator, with 110bhp and a 0-60 of 6.8, 750kg should be in the ball park

More sanding and sanding. Not this year but many parts will be kevlar so chose white to keep the heat off

Making some lighter brackets, 65% reduction. There are some alloy ones next year but only 30%
