They also did that to the E-Ei.
Basicly the fusselage of a Grob Astir on 3 wheels, but the end is just cut off and it doesn't even have a canopy.

How exactly would you keep the aft fuselage with the length limits currently applied to over the road vehicles?
Freebeards pictures usually include some sort of method of truncating the tail and maybe reattaching the airflow

I think I'd be more annoyed that the tail means there's much less benefit in drafting him.

Because it does, apparently. It just lacks the bow windows.
In some thread I speculated on scale maille for skinning compound curves. then I find this:
