It seems like asking who they are ends the call pretty quick. I just hang up on the occasion I get them. What is the frequency?
If you press harassment charges, then the PD can get a subpoena to get the number from the company, and then go from there. Start filing police reports. Tedious, but if you are serious about getting it done, then that's a clear cut way to do it. Only issue will be if they are out of state, by phone it is federal. A subpoena and some calls from a PD may be enough to stop Rachel.

Sure, the calls end pretty quick. But they keep coming. Monday I got one and Tuesday I got three. I'm sure most if not all of them are from out of state; today one of them said "Good Afternoon" when it was morning. Seems Florida is chock full of these losers. And there is the matter of getting the "company" to I.D. themselves.

Internet phone services like NettalkDuo are so cheap you could just change your number. I have used the internet services for years, changing numbers every year or two. I'm also on the do not call list. And I almost never give out my home numbers, or I give my work number if I need to. It's amazing how unwilling telemarketers are to call my employer. And I get those work-phone voicemail messages forwarded to my email so I can access them almost anywhere.

I'm actually hoping to get a call from a telemarketeer.
I will treat them the same way my 4 year old daughter treats me at times - the everlasting string of why questions.
I will either get on their nerves like my daughter gets on mine, or I will learn a new strategy to deal with her. A win-win situation

It CAN be entertaining to toy with them; I had one going for a good half-hour by pretending to really be a potential customer. But frankly, the constant barrage of calls gets tiresome even if they are a good outlet for venting profanities and such.

We have caller ID that shows the number on the TV and have been on the DNC list since it's inception.
If I decide to answer the phone, I just don't say anything and wait for the other party to initiate any conversation. This establishes a connection (and tells them my number is legit) but the computer generated calls will always hang up if you do not make any noise.

Mech

I have fun screening calls for my boss, the caller ID spoofing is very entertaining. The guy who sometimes says he's in Florida shows being in Connecticut, San Diego, all over the place.
Can I help you?
-Yes, is Jim there?
No he's not, can I help you or take a message?
-Can you tell me when he'll be back?
I don't know, can I help you or take a message?
-Yes, you can tell me when he'll be back.
He doesn't work for me. Can I help you or take a message?
-Yes, you can tell me when he'll be back!
I offered to help you and I offered to take a message. Which would you like?
-You can help me by telling me when he'll be back!
I sell parts. What year and model car do you need something for?
-Click.
Sometimes I'm too busy to play, but I do enjoy it when I've got a few moments.

If you're on the do not call list then do this if there is a person on the line get the company name and a phone number (you might have to talk for a minute or two if you don't have caller id then politely inform them you are going to report them for calling you because you are on the do not call list and hang up. You can report them at the do not call website I think. If it's a robocall those are all illegal regardless of wether you're on the list. Try to get an operator and do the same thing.

Even if you don't have the number, or the caller ID is spoofed the Do not call registry can go into your call records and find out who called you (you gave them permission by signing up). All you need is the approximate time of the call when you file the complaint.
