Interestingly, Bloomberg completely lost their marbles.
They adapted their Tesla tracker again to account for 'large gaps' in the spotted VIN range, so their estimated production total now reads over 20,000 lower than the highest spotted VINs.
The last weeks the highest spotted VINs raised considerably while the gaps have filled in. But their method keeps accounting for the gaps and calculates production dropped to about 2,000 Model 3's a week!
Uh-oh, production is failing...! Well, something is failing?
(I copied it to show what I mean as this may not be on their site for long if they regain consciousness)
Yeah, sure, Bloomberg. That's why Tesla is going through a delivery hell right now. All was fine when they made 5,000 cars a week, but 2,000 is just too much.
Some at Bloomberg are so convinced Tesla will ultimately fail that they've become blind for data that say the opposite.
Did not need to dye my hair to spot this pearl of Fake News.

If Tesla released monthly production numbers like a normal automaker there would be no reason to speculate.

I put in a 125 amp welding circuit on 4 gauge wire to my garage.
I could in theory down breaker that circuit to normal the 80 or 90 amps used on 4ga thhn wire and charge a car or 2.
The amateur suicide cords are cute.

Would that be like a green Gremlin?

Subject to months of court wrangling. The stock market protects itself from Tesla 'going dark' to quarterly judgment.
Apparently the upcoming quarterly results will be good. Joe Scott subscribes to Scott Adam's theory of two movies on one screen.

What if the missing serial numbers are the cheap models they aren't producing? Ford has been known to do that.

I believe the allocated VIN batches are type specific including battery capacity. There are special batches for the D versions. But recent VIN batches were relatively small, so there won't be big 'gaps' in between those.
The older VINs have been consumed so the gaps at the end of each batch are gone. Except in the Bloomberg model, that now projects even below 2000, while past week totals keep climbing to above 6000 a week now... such a mess.

Over 53,000 Model 3's produced, 55,000 delivered in one quarter
https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-q3-p...ivery-numbers/
Quote:
During the third quarter, Tesla produced a total of 80,142 electric cars, 50% more than the company’s prior all-time high in Q2 2018. Tesla produced 53,239 Model 3, as well as 26,903 Model S and X vehicles.
Deliveries for Q3 totaled 83,500 vehicles, comprised of 55,840 Model 3, as well as 14,470 Model S, and 13,190 Model X. With these figures, Tesla’s Q3 deliveries alone corresponds to 80% of the company’s entire deliveries last year. The electric car maker also delivered about twice as many Model 3 in the third quarter as all previous quarters combined.
|
And preparations to start producing the $35,000 version are under way:
https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-base...oduction-ramp/
Quote:
... it appears that the electric car maker is starting to make preparations for the vehicle’s production. Gigafactory 1, for example, is set to receive upgrades from Panasonic that would enable it to produce more battery cells. Yoshio Ito, head of Panasonic’s automotive business, noted that three new battery cell production lines would be completed sooner than the Japanese company’s initial “end-of-2018” estimate. Apart from this, Tesla is also receiving upgrades in the form of new Grohmann machines that are expected to be installed at the end of Q3 or the beginning of Q4. The new Grohmann machines are designed to make module production in Gigafactory 1 three times faster and three times cheaper.
In the final weekend of Q3, updates from Elon Musk and the Tesla community suggested that the production ramp for the Model 3 is going even further. In an email to employees, Musk noted that production of Model 3 drive units had reached a rate of 10,000 per week. Reservation holders in forums such as the r/TeslaMotors subreddit have also noted that the estimated timeline for the $35,000 base Model 3 has remained consistent over the past months. As of October 1, reservation holders are given a 3-6 month timeline for the production of the $35,000 electric sedan.

That's the end of Q1 2019 at the latest.
