The quiet, fast automatic engine start when shifting into gear, tapping the accelerator or depleting the vacuum reserve is one of the things I miss most about the Insight.

I love that too, but its rare that I don't key off before the auto stop kicks on. I need a FAS...
I bet the thing you miss the most is Lean Burn.
------------
Update : Its a dilema... My FCD shows around 900 mile and 96.8 mpg but I know it is more around ~95 mpg. 0/20 bars on the gas gauge. I calculated that with a 10.5 gallon (US) tank and 95 mpg I will do 997 mi if I use it all... What to do? Burn gas to get a better score and do 1000 mi, or wait for summer 2014 to do a 1000 mi tank ...

Do eet! Take a 1 gallon can with you so you can run it all the way to 1000 and not get stranded.

Yep - I miss the magic of lean burn most of all. I can't believe you haven't wired up a FAS switch! Makes things so much easier.

I'm not a pro in wiring unfortunately... I think about buying a FAS from M Dabrowski, what do you think of it? It even keeps the 12v charging during EOC.
A assist inhibit switch like you did is also something I want to do.

Now that I have finished my 144v grid charger, I started building a 144v discharger XD. I followed the same idea than M Dabrowki and I will use a shop light. Some difference, it will be manually controlled via an on/off switch. there will be two 300w shop light plugged in serial. The discharger controll box will plug to the grid charger so the 12v fan can cool the pack during discharging and will plug to the harness in the car.
We have modified the harness to put the diode in the power supply instead. We didn't thought about a discharger in the first place so we put it in the harness, but you can't discharge if you have a diode in the harness.
