That happens to me too...but I take comfort in the fact that I'm getting better mileage than the Prius.

Would love to overhear a discussion between Diesel Dave and a Prius driver as the two of them end up parking next to each other at the store (or wherever)...

DD: How do you like your Prius? Get pretty good FE with it?
PD: Oh yeah! It's great! I regularly get 40mpg with it. It's amazing!
DD <with disappointed look>: Really? You only get 40mpg with it?
PD: Well, I could probably get more, but it's a damn sight better than what you're getting in that behemoth truck!
DD: Actually, it's not... Over the past 3 months, I've been averaging nearly 53mpg with it... and that's over the entire tank of fuel!
PD:

That's almost a daily driver compared to how often (or how rarely) I've filled up.

When it hits 94 degrees outside and you consider turning on the AC, but don't. Then go along driving with the windows rolled up.

YKYAEI: When you order a pizza on the phone, and go pick it up yourself cause it saves THEM gas.

You see a poll on gasbuddy.com asking the following question:

How easily can you achieve an advertised fuel-economy rating for your vehicle?

and you think, "If my vehicle even approached getting it's advertised fuel-economy rating, I'd immediately pull over to the side of the road and figure out what's massively wrong."
