YKYAEM when...

It hurts to have to idle the engine, even though the reason it's idling is to check & set the timing to make it more efficient!

I'm sure you're not!

And I kept putting off doing the timing becuase I refused to idle the car to warm it up prior to the task. I waited until I had to drive it somewhere first & had time afterward.

Ahaha. But given that an idling four cylinder uses a litre an hour at worst (my SOHC, non-vvt, batch injection 4 litre six used 1.6l/hr at idle), how much fuel did you lose on subsequent drives while the engine ran inefficiently?

Now you both need to do calculus before setting your timing.

Also yes, bicycle (technically tricycle) body construction will be posted here and on bentrider. Same username

On one long trip, my co-driver mentioned how he was often irritated, especially at night, by semi-trailer drivers who would charge right up behind him and then brake. I explained that they could only pass by spending a mile gaining speed, and then looking at traffic for a go/nogo. I don't always need a mile, but that's been my usual procedure too. There's some really sloppy fast drivers out there.

I don't put these jobs off. It just galls me to run the engine when I am not going anywhere. I even stick the car in gear, check it is clear to pull out, then start the engine, so that I can lift the clutch as soon as it fires up!
