Much like I do now, I probably would only use as much HVAC to keep the windows defogged!

This reminds me of...
YKYAEM when you dislike rainy days because it requires the use of the defogger.

Yessir. The last cross-country trip I did was at ~20% faster speeds than my usual highway pace. Saved me a full day of travel.
Coincidentally, the fastest speed I've driven a car in the past ~20 years was also on that trip... down a mountain... engine off for something like 11 km.

aero like a barn door has benefits!
I met up with an old family friend to share driving to Toronto this weekend: my winter beater Metro to the meeting point, then her 2-door V6 Jeep Wrangler the rest of the way.
Just like this one:
It used more than three times the fuel the Metro would for the same distance!
Nevertheless, YKYAEM when you realize there's a side-benefit to driving a barn door: it really saves on brakes! Lift off the power and you slow down PDQ.
(This was also the first and only time I've driven another vehicle and been glad to get back into the Metro. 2 door Jeeps are not excellent highway cars.)

YKYAEM
I've always wondered what the drag coefficient was for the 05-09 mustang gt (and the 10-14s as well for the most part). Well, I came across a page from watson racing from years and years ago on the FR500C with the big Wang in the rear, the front fog light delete with the more open grille, and the longer lower chin spoiler.
0.42
I saw the number and immediately thought "Wow, that thing gets decent gas mileage for how close to **** that number is." lol (Me and my dad at the time were both getting 27-29 mpg @ 70 mph in our 3v's)

YKYAEM car show
... when you go to the local classic car show with ~500 cars, and these are the only 2 pics you take...
1957 Nash Metropolitan
1996 Beetle (from Brazil, if I remember right)
I had a good long chat with the owners of both cars. Learned some stuff!

(Cross-post from: I was always a "car guy". Crossovers & SUV's are ending that. )
YKYAEM: when you're walking down the street as someone pulls away from a stop in a plain jane 2000-2006 Camry sedan and you realize it's got a manual transmission! Unicorn sighting! Actually happened to me this summer.
Same style as my folks' car (though theirs is automatic, of course)...
