Well, it seems while you are waiting for my mpg results i will be putting many long creative and fulfilling hours into my project. The end result will be something to behold for a niche group i'm sure. The higher the mileage result the better.Dream the impossible dream and advance humanity .Negative attitude is like trying to drive the freeway in reverse-too much conflict!

Hey Robert,i just found some research results that might interest you.University of Wisconsin-Madison,led by professor Rolf Reitz have come up with an engine that combines gasoline and diesel to get the best of both worlds.Using fast response fuel blending they have achieved 53% thermal efficiency! The special mix lowers engine temperature by as much as 40% drastically reducing the amount of energy lost to waste heat. There you go now it is not unheard of.This application was done on a diesel engine, they claim by applying it to a gasoline engine the fuel economy potential improvement would be even larger.Check it out.

a good discovery but maybe not altogether practical - i don't think anyone would like to have to fill up with 2 fuels. Would be better in the commercial sector.

Well if you're willing to concider diesel you may want to check out Kubota Canada; KUBOTA.CA - HOME

They make a number of small 2-3 cylinder engines; Kubota Canada : Manufacturer of compact diesel tractors, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, power washers and engines. which have already proven usable in cars; XR3 Hybrid Personal Transit Vehicle: A 125 mpg Plug-In Hybrid Three Wheeler You Build From Plans

I had looked at diesel early on in the planning stage but decided against it for a number of reasons, weight, vibration, soot and my lack of hands on diesel experiance. So i opted for the 3 cyl turbo gas pot for the prototype car.I brought up the diesel thing to show that efficiency in an internal combustion engine has been elevated to 53% when the experimentors combined diesel and gasoline injection on thier test diesel engine.

Ha... surfin' and accidently came across the Zoleco. Googled it and without going through too many hits, found web postings from this year and from 1999 with the car in the same state as it is today. Whaddya think now boys and girls? Too bad luvit bailed- maybe he's having too much fun driving his Zoleco to surf anymore?

I could not log in for a while, but finally got in this morning. I was thrilled with the Zoleco and almost any other 3-wheeler. The Triac 3-wheeler assembly plant in Salinas, CA., failed and left (taking a half million city dollars) while Aptera should have been a "sign" about money and 3-wheelers.

I enjoyed my City-EL electric 3-wheeler, but try as I might; I could not get those in the US. Glad that money pit is gone now. Interesting that there are not Zolecos, Zaps, Apteras running around all over! I think I will keep my 3-wheel trikes in the corner. Maybe someday they will be a great "barn find".
