Luv it Frank, I worked in a parts store and then as a quality inspector over the years. Last job was in a research lab. One of my favorite quotes is, "The customer is always right until politely shown otherwise."

If you want to grab a truck bumper with a magnet, do it right. Use an electromagnet so you can turn it off.

McMaster-Carr (McMaster-Carr) has a whole page of electromagnets. Try the P/N 6598K315 for a start - fits in the palm of your hand and only draws a little over 2 amps for 600 lbs pull.

The trick is to get close enough without the driver seeing you coming. Can magnets make your car invisible, too?

22 Maverick: Summer 2022 burned 62.74 gallons in 3145.1 miles for 50.1 MPG. Winter 2023-2024 - 2416.7 miles, 58.66 gallons for 41 MPG.

That's actually quite an idea...

<40w being up to 600lbs of weight reduction (circumstances approving) is actually quite a gain.

My truck has about 100 lbs of drag at 60 MPH, so the 600 lb pull electromagnet should hold quite well. The drag would actually be less if drafting that close.

Poor man's autopilot - get close, turn on magnet, shut off engine, go to sleep. Just need a unicorn to deal with the truck driver.

MTA: Hey, wait. This could actually work. Does that get me kicked out of the Unicorn Corral?

thats the problem there is not any reason just that magnets are cool (and people have not idea how they work) and people believe anything with "saves gas" on it.

quack products and the science does not work.

Domman56, This thread is here because I tried a set of magnets on my car and they increased my milage as described earlier. To check results I tried them on my other car and similar results occurred and still have increasde milage for the past few years. I don't know why this happened. That is why I asked for help in duplicating the experiment.
I think the fuel is affected to some extent and caused the ECU to go to an economy mode. That's my theory. An engine analyser would need to be hooked up to monitor changes to ECU settings to verify if that is the case.
Other than that I am unable to give any other opinion.
