I forget the citation, maybe Black Pigeon Speaks, but statement was that in Japan the ageing population isn't blamed on old people, but on young people not having babies.

On sea level, Scott Adams asks that if the ocean levels are rising, where are the islands that are disappearing? It would seem that you could take proxies like Pitcairn, Easter and San Diego islands and compare those over time.

I hear more stories about islands rising up via vulcanism.

The UN gave the government of the Maldives millions and millions of dollars to relocate their population some where else because the islands were going to be under water soon because of global warming.
Well that was about 10 years ago and the government gave or loaned the money to build multi million dollar beach front reaorts. Last year a friend of mine went to one of these resorts and it was beautiful.

I'm convinced the carbon tax and green new deal BS is for people who want to feel like they're helping the environment but they aren't smart enough to do anything them selves or are too lazy to do anything and don't want to be inconvenienced.
They usually fall into at least 1 or 3 categories. Too stupid, to lazy or not enough money.

Glencore is capping its coal production for the climate!
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/20/glen...ng-output.html
Quote:
Glencore says it will not grow its capacity to produce coal beyond current levels around 150 million tons per ye[a]r.

The company will instead focus on increasing production of commodities used in electric vehicles and other low-carbon technologies.

Analysts say the move will tighten supplies and boost prices, allowing Glencore to keep money flowing from its coal segment even as it caps output.
And of course it will nudge its clients towards optimization and cleaner alternatives.

In my defense, I did not write (nor mean) heat trapped by the atmosphere as a whole; rather, I implied by the CO2 content in the atmosphere.
As that doubled so did the part it was responsible for.

For other greenhouse gases the effect their part has will reflect the changes in their abundance. As after water vapor CO2 has the most effect it does have a significant effect.

Water vapor is governed by temperature, as that rises the air can contain more water and will reflect more heat, aggravating the situation.
We need to keep temperatures down. Maybe we should paint everything white.

Would they do better extracting the Thorium from coal before or after extracting the thermal energy?

I do feel like we're practically neanderthals burning things for energy. We should be harnessing the power of subatomic bonds, not atomic bonds.

oil pan 4 excepted, right?

AGU100: Earth may be 140 years away from reaching carbon levels not seen in 56 million years
Quote:
WASHINGTON — Total human carbon dioxide emissions could match those of Earth’s last major greenhouse warming event in fewer than five generations, new research finds.

A new study finds humans are pumping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere at a rate nine to 10 times higher than the greenhouse gas was emitted during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM), a global warming event that occurred roughly 56 million years ago.

The results suggest if carbon emissions continue to rise, the total amount of carbon dioxide injected into the atmosphere since humans started burning fossil fuels could equal the amount released during the PETM as soon as 2159.
So..... If we are saddled with a musclebound government for 140 years, or choose to not evolve, we're toast.

Hm. Hmmmm.
So if we reduce carbon emissions by over 98% we may retain some ice and not endure the 100 meter rise of sea level associated with melting all of it?

Nice.

As they say, past results are not a guarantee of future performance.

Beware Climate Change being used as a Trojan Horse for globalist political change. Witness the Green New Deal (also notice how hard it is to be a peace candidate in the Democratic party).
