I've averaged 9.6L/100km for the past three years or 24.5 US MPG just driving like I normally do. For 2012, I plan to average 8.6L/100km or 27 US MPG armed with Pulse & Glide (engine on). Actually personally I plan to average 7.6 L/100km and assume my wife who has the car half the time will continue to do 9.6 L/100km, which is still 11% better than US EPA Combined.

Happy new year, everyone.
I'm looking forward to playing more with the UFO (2000 Honda Insight 5-speed) next summer. It's currently parked for the winter.
I don't have a specific overall fuel economy goal in mind, but I'm aiming to make it easier to maintain 100 mpg (US) lean burn cruising at 80 km/h (~50 mph) on the level (that's the speed limit on secondary roads around here)
Mods planned:
- refurbish the hybrid battery pack to enable assist/regen functions, which I haven't been using to date
- then promptly install an assist disable switch, so I have control over when I burn my electrons. Also add the max regen switch
- maybe some more aero mods like: better undertray? wheel discs?
Oh what the heck: I want a boat tail too!
But I've already listed more things than I'll probably accomplish for the year!

Added a link to the first post back to LAST YEAR'S goals discussion, for interest sake.
Did you meet your 2011 targets??

Always fun to look back and think ahead. Here is mine from last year:

However, in winter the Prius takes a huge hit to mileage in the winter and I'd like to do something more about that. I'd very much like to see 45+ in the winter with the Prius.
As for specific mods, I don't have any solid plans. I have ideas, and they always change.
2011 Prius goals: Decrease the winter hit to mileage and get the PHEV kit working.
Mods I'm considering:
- get the dang PHEV working
- insulated engine
- bellypan
- automatically actuated grill block
- smooth wheel covers
2011 Paseo goals: The possibilities are kind of wide open at the moment. I'm looking at a job much closer to home which makes an EV conversion possible. I'm happy with the current mpg, but want to make the car easier to drive.
Mods I'm considering:
- 1.4L 1ND-TV (diesel) engine swap
- EV conversion
- hybrid conversion
- bellypan
- adding EGR
- something to help automate P&G, automatic start perhaps?
As I've mentioned, I'm fairly happy with my mileage at this point. This is true and somewhat not true. I've gotten to the point where I've looked at my energy usage and found that my cars are not the biggest chunk of energy I use now, my home is now a larger energy user. So, I am focusing more on conserving and increasing efficiency there. For others that are also interested in this I suggest checking out EcoRenovator.

As it happens I did get the new job and I now have a 15 mile daily commute vs 42 miles. Another perk we had was my wife got a new job too with only a 7 mile daily commute where as she used to use the Prius as her work vehicle. The total effect here is not nearly mpg related as it is total miles put on my vehicles, and thusly my annual fuel usage is way down! So, in 2010 I traveled 22,000 miles (448 gallons) in the Prius, to 12,000 miles (227 gallons) used in 2011.
The new job does put me in EV range and I'm looking to slowly gather parts for a conversion.
In the mean time I have the Prius' PHEV working and use it for commuting. My wife is now driving the Paseo and I'm sure the short commute (3.5 miles one way) is going to murder the mileage. But, it doens't use much fuel, so I'm more than happy.
As I mentioned in my last post, my home (especially now) uses vastly more energy than my vehicles. So, my main focus is now there to reduce energy usage.

I don't post here often but it was fun to see what I wrote last year and how I did so why not do it again...
I did better than expected even though I missed several of my auto resolutions
I did not go electric fan in the Tahoe yet I opted to only drive it when needed which is why it has been idle since October. I did manage to lighten the load and drive much better.
So in 2012 I will
* Get that electric fan setup on the Tahoe I expect to use it more and every lil bit helps. maintain 18mpg average shoot for 20mpg.
* Keep The Alero's v6 tuned and averaging 25mpg +
* Finish working on the Vette and only use it for fun
* Ride the Harley more and shoot for average of 60mpg for the whole year keeping good track of its use.
This is a tall order living in a congested area with all city driving. I do get the urge to buy something new each year this year I hope to use what I have and not create waste by adding to the demand.
I hope to be inspired by my cousin who rides his bicycle everywhere no matter what. He chooses to do this and is not required, I sold him a home 4 miles from his work and 2 miles from stores much closer than he is apartment and the ride he was used to. If he can do that, I can be better in my use of resources saving money is a bonus.

Less booze.
Less weight.
Less money spent.
More money saved.
Nothing bought until I have the money saved for it.
I hit 60 MPG in my 90-day tanks for the Aygo
And Mrs A. hits 50 in the Prius 90 day average.
I've booked A junior into private education from August (no, I am not rich) so some of these just have to happen.

You've been here that long you're thinking Scots too
Unusually for a scotsman I'm not often to be found boozing
Weight-i could lose a stone or 3
2012 will be a spendy year between car projects and going to the German grand prix
For the first time in a long time I have a savings account-hopefully the iS will allow me to put some of the savings from hypermiling into it,rather than repairs..
Agreed re the "money first, goods second" approach-why I only own cars I can buy outright
If I can hit 45 mpg 90day I'd be thrilled!
Hope A junior enjoys school!
Oh how I yearn to be one of the folks saying "working at keeping my 123456789mpg 90 day" you lucky folks

Looks like I easily exceeded my 2011 goals, since I didn't have any .

Since I have a short drive to work, since April, I am reduced to trying to maintain 35 or better per tank. My goal for 2011 was to first get a 40 mpg tank. When I got it, I got three in a row. Ended up with five 40+mpg tanks in 2011 so I was pretty happy with that.
Not sure I can do much with my average with a 5.3 mile commute.
