Easily solved with sub-equatorial magnets.

Shoot, no maybe about it. I got the sequencing right, but instead of using zip ties I used ten penny nails and my trusty hammer.

Well there's your problem

It worked, the engine didn't use as much fuel but the fuel you saved leaked out where you drove in the nails

check and see if you left the hammer stuck to the magnet!!!!

If so it could be draining all the 'power' into the hammer

I used so little fuel,I said, hell,I'll just get rid of the car and ride on a big magnet,so I ordered up a large magnet and a seat from the Acme company, bolted the wheels from the car onto the magnet.Works great, cost me 0 to drive.

Ok, ok, enough goofing off. I am now going to move the question to my amygdala where my most powerful thoughts emanate from.

A fuel injector is an electromechanical solenoid consisting of an electromagnetically inductive coil wound around a steel pintle. When the magnetic field is energized, the pintle retracts into the body of the fuel injector allowing pressurized fuel to be sprayed into the intake system or the combustion chamber. When the injector is not energized, no fuel is used resulting in infinite MPGs. When the magnetic field is energized, fuel use increases. Therefore, the scientific mind must reasonably conclude that a magnetic field substantially increases fuel use. You can quote me on this.
