The SRK Owners Forum
They stepped away from Facebook long enough to point out that there has been an SRK forum for a year now. Now I won't have to flag them down on the street to talk to them.
I'm currently reviewing the member list and MyBB forum software prior to registering. Does anyone have an opinion on whether to use the same username there, or something more personally identifiable?
They are discussing the trailer hitch.

I kind of feel like Arcimoto is the automotive industry's best-kept secret. While Mr. Mud was getting people to talk about The Mudmobile*, Arcimoto made awesome things happen.
I bet there will be articles "Whatever happened to The Mudmobile" while thousands and thousands of SRKs are being sold.
I dare not sully this thread with that name. I may not sully that thread with that name.

I think it you should use the same username.
Everyonce in awhile I see someone who is on other forums I am on and it is neat to see that we have the same interest. I use the same username on all the forums I participate in.

That would be the reason for doing it. The reason for not is that it imperils your financial health. Ha!
Unfortunately there are bots spidering the Web trying to put two and two together because someone somewhere will buy that.
I'll use the username from thesamba.com as a compromise. There's probably a AI watching for new registrations there already. I give up.

Arcimoto have announced the gala grand opening of the Arcimoto Manufacturing Plant (AMP) and the first official SRK, on 2017.11.11.
At an undisclosed location in Eugene, OR. They've already painted the floor and put in lights.
I've RSVP'd, but I'm not divulging the location until the 11th. Although I may ride by and have a look.---
edit: like I said they hold their cards close to their vest. They will divulge the location on November fourth. I might pedal by, but I wouldn't bother them until the 11th.
Two weeks from Saturday.

A friend of mine proposed a location that sold recently to a mystery investor. I drove past and had a look.
I'm not saying that it's the place, just that it is the perfect lair for a super-villan. Blocks from a divided four-lane, up a 'no outlet' side street, to a gated lane that snakes up into the South Hills. It would fit Arcimoto's circumspect style.
...why can't it be right across the street from me, next to the train yard?
Edit:
Found this in the transcript of the investor conference call:
Quote:
Q: Are you using the new Panasonic 21700 cells in the battery system?
A: Not currently. We are sourcing our cells from Farasis, the same manufacturer who makes cells for the Brammo/Polaris Empulse and the Zero Electric Motorcycles. They make an awesome pouch cell that will power our initial production vehicles.
Q: What is the SRK’s drag coefficient?
A: We have not determined this yet. The Signature Series body panels are being tooled currently. We plan to measure this directly once the signature vehicles are on the road.

I never corrected the mistaken impression above. The 'supervillian lair' is the "old" Hynix fab plant out on Willow Creek. That went to Corning, the people who make Gorilla glass. My new hope is that Corning will make gorilla glass windshields for Arcimoto. The actual location is 2034 W 2nd Ave, which is close in on the West side.
In the blurry first picture the yellow one on the right is old number 1, and the others are arrayed in cardinal order. That area will later be for intake and sorting of materials. Their BFL, the laser tube and sheet cutter was delivered today. It can produce pieces for 28,000 vehicles per year. They also have a CNC tube bender. The production line is maybe 1/4 the floor space. They had four vehicles bunched up together in various stages of assembly.
The other two pictures are of the first of the Signature series (of six IIRC). New features include a completely redesigned rear swing arm, a soft molded rain gutter along the top, a folding rear seat, better fit and finish in the dashboard area. Later it was completely surrounded by people ten deep.
I had a chance to talked to Mr. Frohnmayer. ....right after he was interviewed by Car & Driver! I told him I'd prefer to crew for someone else to run the first Arcimoto at Bonneville, because that could happen much faster than me getting my own there.
I think a nearly stock Arcimoto* with BMW i3 tires and a boat tail could run 100 to 120mph.
I hope that's enough for tonight. On the 18-19th they will be giving out free rides.
*It's officially no longer the SRK, it's now the Arcimoto FUV.

What does "FUV" stand for? BTW that last picture makes me wonder how easy it would be to adapt a regular scooter engine and eventually turn it into some sort of hybrid.

Fun Utility Vehicle. The SRK designator came from Nathan Fillion's comment "It drives like a shark!"
I understand that you would wonder that. But the drivetrain is so tightly integrated into the architecture and systems, that doing that would essentially destroy the vehicle.
My solution would be to make a pusher trailer through-the-road hybrid. It does have a tow rating.
Further to last night it was interesting to hear Mark Frohnmayer explain to the Car & Driver interviewer why they went to pouches instead of cylindrical cells for the battery. Cells like the 18650 are spiral wound and when the layers expand and contract it mechanically stresses the inner part of the coil.
