Hope you're right, Man. Gonna take care of a few things that are easier without the engine in while I have the opportunity. My electrics have been a bit wonkey since Montreal. Hopefully I'll be curing that issue with this swap. Last gas fill should be mid 60s again.

I know you can do it! you built that thing up to what it is - an engine swap in a weekend is a done deal for you! Especially since it requires very little wiring and all the mounts & hoses bolt right up.

First day done. Removed belly pan, unbolted both ends of axles, removed grill to radiator, and pulled engine/tranny out, swapped over mounts, pulleys( took the opportunity to align them OUTSIDE the engine bay), bolted the engine to tranny, hooked starter up to battery and cranked that sucker over like a champ. Made smoke so it will be going in tomorrow.

Gas engine before disassemble.

Empty bay.

Guess the engine was burning pretty clean.

It's like a transmission, only smaller.

Going in tomorrow, fuel tank swap, start on the fuel lines.

It's in, bolted down, shift linkage is connected, and axles are connected. Would have gotten farther, but the water pump housing decided to crumble when I started removing old hoses just before I dropped it in. It was easier swapping parts that way, though.

In the car.

New housing.

Old housing.

Exhaust, electrics, throttle cable, starting cable, clutch cable, air intake, fuel lines, and fuel tank to go.

Glad that you are going to the oil burner. Hope you like yours as well as I like mine.

If you haven't already, a cup kit or Raceland coils might be a something to consider. It's great to see someone swapping to diesel though!

Turns out, the diesel engine is lighter than the gasser. The front of the car is about an inch and a half higher than before. A guy at work brought it up today. I thought it was just me. Guess I'll have to get some new coils when I replace the struts.
