Very nice opportunity to lower the car and reduce frontal area. Maybe you should just cut the existing coils first, and if the cutting does not work you can always turn around and buy aftermarket coils. You could save mucho money this way, no?

Cutting would be quick and easy( and probably what will happen), but I'm going to see if I can get all new parts with about a 2-3 inch drop.

Vacation time has been approved! Now I just have the minor detail of having the car running. Much work this weekend.

The weekend portion of the Sept 8-11 is easier than the Mon/Tues part, but I might be able to swing the whole thing. If I can't, which part of that four day spread is your run?

The USFRA is allowing a minimum of 4-runs for each 130-Club member and I believe that racing will begin on the 1st day of Sept.8th after the driver's safety meeting and any 'handling runs' are accomplished. So it could work out at 1-run/day.

My plan is to get there on Friday, make as many runs as I can( never been and don't know if you can just get right back in line or not) and leave first thing Monday morning.

Got a lot accomplished today. Drained the gas( Pathfinder said thanks), removed gas tank, changed over some plumbing and put all new clamps on hoses, replaced hoses as necessary, installed diesel tank, and plumbed up to the filter. Still need to mount/plumb the filter housing and plumb the pump on the fuel side of things. A friend has a diesel Golf, so I tested how the shut off solenoid was wired. Power for running, no power=no run. Easy kill switch wiring.

Diesel tank in the foreground, almost ready to go in.

Tank out makes a good view of any rust hiding above the tank. It also shows that new straps are in order soon.

Sure is nice having an access hole just over the fuel tank plumbing.

More tomorrow.
