Fuller/Jobs/advertising/dust

Okay, I can see that. Would that warfare could be superceded by friendly persuasion.

Any seven-year-old can master Adam Smith and repurpose him?

The roads aren't full of Lightyears because advertising, not technology. I saw one of the inventors of the solar cell (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daryl_Chapin) demonstrate a flashlight powered model car in the 1950s.

Agreed the climate doesn't care about our bickering.

edit:

Didn't mean to imply it did. Just that science isn't static. Eventually, they'll accept that Dark Matter was just dust all along.
I'd like to hear more about Bucky and Steve.
I don't know how to give an intelligible answer to friendly persuasion.Right now it's pretty hostile.Darwall runs just short of using expletives in association to anyone involved with renewables.
Networks whose lifeblood is ad revenue from the fossil-fuel industry might decline to advertise or even run a story on something like Lightyear. Some phone calls to associates might have them pulling the ads en masse,in retaliation for such exposure.
What's the latest on dark matter?,or I can do a search? I understood that there's a discrepancy in mass,to explain celestial mechanics, and the dark matter which would compensate for the missing mass can not be detected, accept for its gravitational affects on bodies around it.Dust would have at least a detectable radio signature, and it would obscure visible light, not something that's being observed.

42-million ton AC unit

I visited with an air conditioning contractor at breakfast this morning.Shooting from the hip,he said that the AC unit that would handle the heating load from fossil-fuel combustion direct heating would cost, with Texas State sales tax, $77-billion for the unit, and $56,028,711,920/year in electricity to run a middle- of- the- road 16-SEER unit.Unfortunately, the air conditioner itself would be adding its own heat, out the condenser coil, which would also have to be removed.

Yes, you may. Friendly persuasion is the way of the Quakers.

Problem is I follow the story on Suspicious 0bservers, and you've expressed skepticism on amateur anarcho-scientists. You might start here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_dust#Radiative_properties

Then:

This is two years old, but the 'Dark Matter' still isn't found. Here's one at the Royal Academy. It's pretty funny:

Michael Faraday lectured to schoolkids for hours on the physics of a candle flame in the same room.

As regards [the two] Steve[s]: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Apple_Inc.#Jobs_and_Wozniak

Jobs was kicked out of the company (I'm thinking after Wozniak had already bailed) but came back to save it from itself and make his 'dent in the Universe' much bigger.

Corporations don't serve on jury duty. Money doesn't buy speech, it buy a platform.

Draining America first again.

"Schlotterbeck calculates that the industry as a whole has destroyed 80 percent of its value since 2008. It turns out that the so-called shale revolution is a revolution as much in investor stupidity as it is in technology, a technology that can’t seem to produce actual industry profits. The former CEO added that there have been 172 bankruptcies among exploration and production companies engaged in the shale oil and gas business just since 2015."

The more expensive oil extraction technologies are a response to high prices, which are influenced by cartels. It's a pretty simple matter to sink companies that have high operating expenses by flooding the market with cheap oil for some period of time. It's a back and forth game where oil gets expensive, domestic production increases, it gets cheap, domestic production decreases, rinse and repeat.

It's a supply/demand balance. The demand is driven by advertising.

sendler — Max Keiser has been calling shenanigans on the shale oil gambit for years.

It's very foolish for a country that can afford to buy all the oil it wants for $55/ barrel to struggle and lose money to increase it's own production. Leave it in the ground for now. Money in the bank. 10 years from now oil will be selling for $150 and then you can make money. 20 years from now could be time enough gone by that makes whatever anyone can get there hands on invaluable.

If there is not complete deflation from world economic collapse by then.

More than 30 locations in Central Europe—including towns and cities in Denmark, France, Germany, and Poland—set all-time heat records on Sunday

It was 84 degrees near the Arctic Ocean this weekend as carbon dioxide hit its highest level in human history
