One might harvest melanin from black fungi that eat radiation from nuclear waste and use it to make solar photovoltaic cells that are more efficient (and insulation for aircraft and space habitations).

If microbes can eat ionizing radiation seems like we could all be extraterrestrials.

It's corporate capitalism against the insects. Which has been around longer? Which will be extinct first?
We warm fuzzy mammals are caught in the middle.

Is there any allowance for calibration drift on the remote-sensing satellite array, compared to,real-time, in situ measurements taken directly under the ice? When Lonnie Thompson was 'on' Mt. Can Kamis walk up to space and check the satellite?

Oh, I must have imagined this too.
"Climate scientists say the temperature has been dropping for 30 years"
Always so dire, always so wrong.

Batman Junior[/URL]]Talked it over with Tim: the AGW thread is more than enough for hot button topics around here.
Shutting this one down... with apologies for not doing it sooner.

In that regard, and via S0, there's a review of the extent of Arctic Permafrost by the European Space Agency:
ESA - Picturing permafrost in the Arctic
Ice melt isn't the only thing freshening the Arctic Ocean
Quote:
The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and shallowest of the world's five major oceans. It is also known as the coldest of all the oceans. The International Hydrographic Organization recognizes it as an ocean, although some oceanographers call it the Arctic Sea

This is a total distortion of what science was indicating. We did have cooler than expected temperatures - and it was because we had bad particulate and smog pollution. Ironically, when we got cleaner cars, this "shading" largely went away, and the expected warming resumed.
You need to look at the total picture, and stop making a fool of yourself. Basing your claims on falsehoods prevents you from having credibility, on this.

So, who's ahead?
According to today's S0 if we take care of waste and pollution, the climate will sort itself out. What he calls the Win-Win Scenario.
