'Mercury's dust ring'

I looked at what was posted.
Then I looked into the ownership of the provider and any criticisms.
The New Scientist has been criticized as being 'scientifically illiterate.'
I did a search for ' dust rings around Mercury at NASA, where the original content originated, five years ago.
The 'discoverers' of the 'ring' recount what they actually did. It's 'different' than what's been said.

'which of the scattershot posts'

What is he on about? I accept Scott Adams argument that peer review is meningless. You might review his seven tells for cognitive dissonance. http://www.scottadamssays.com/the-te...ve-dissonance/
I still don't know what your asking.
The S-O video shared by oilpan4 covered six topics in its brief presentation.
I found zero value in all six mentioned.
That's what I intended to convey.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 'self-realization' material has to do with how psychologists explain hatred for science behavior, something I 'smell' here at the Lounge routinely.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As to Scott Adams, he's no one I'd ever rely upon to inform how I think about things.
I remain mystified as to why, when the internet allows us all direct access to the 'horse's mouth', people still choose 'filters' to delegate their critical thinking to.

My friend who lives upriver was upset that I didn't watch the State of the Unioin address live, 'because it's history'. I chose to watch 2022 and 2023 back-to-back at 1.75x. That way I could see how much was repeated, and what subtly changed.

Filters on critical thinking is exactly what 'Clot' Adams is trying to teach. His opinions suck about half the time. Just ask redpoint5.

'Total Solar Irradiance'

Sunspots do not dominate total solar irradiance.
Peak-to-peak, eleven-year Solar-Cycle total illuminosity is related to the statistical quantitative evaluation of all magnetic flux-related, dark sunspots ( which do not block UV radiation ), and bright, interactive regions :
* moats encircling sunspots
* magnetically-induced faculae in the photosphere, brighter than surrounding senescent solar disk
* plage fields which appear co-spatially with faculae, covering an order of magnitude larger area than sunspots ( 10X ) and are longer-lived than sunspots
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During solar maximum, each cycle, when there is the highest population of 'dark' sunspots, the Sun is at it's 'brightest.'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dramatic daily solar ejaculations mean nothing in the aggregate, as solar physicists routinely track 81-day running means, covering three solar rotations each, recording all spectra, at all latitudes, through all angles, for eleven years, since Solar-Cycle-1, June-July, 1754, when official record keeping began.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And one for you climate deniers to chew on:
The 2014 Solar Maximum was among the weakest maximums ever recorded since 1754, Earth set an all-time heat record, while the Moon, nor any of the other planets varied in temperature at all.

'Solar Maximum in 2024'

Absolutely! It's baked into the physics and guaranteed.

'Magnetic pole reversal'

It cannot be predicted. By anyone.
So, place your bets!
We could see:
* true polar standstill ( TPS )
* apparent polar wander ( APW )
* true polar wander ( TPW )
* excursion
* jump-back
* reversal
* Cretaceous Superchron
* repeat of Permo-Carboniferous LRS

'current does not follow path of least resistance'

A provocative comment.
Await your facts.

A very rational approach.
I'd convert the speech to a text transcript, from which I could study the 'salesmanship', self-congratulatory comments , chest-beating, etc..
I possess no auditory memory, and hard copy really helps me navigate the entire structure of the narrative without my mind rejecting content at some juncture. Otherwise, it all just kinda melts into some irretrievable goo, where I'd have to re-watch time and time again to capture content.

During ex-President Obama's reelection campaign, I read the transcripts rather than watch the speeches live, because I'd read about DDG/?q=obama+mass+hypnosis+in+speeches
