$1k, 2004 Prius

Needs a bit of bodywork at the rear:

190k kms is low for a 2004 Prius (118k miles).

"Mechanically in good condition."

Probably needs something like this:

another ratty g2 Prius! Asking $1480

$1480 Canadian (that's about $45 USD) for a scratch 'n' dent special. (OK, that may be too kind a description.)

2004 with 302,000 km (188k miles) on it. Getting up there, but not horrible -- mine had 275k on it.

If I were still looking for a Prius, I'd be on the highway to Montreal right now.

'87 Forsa, 135k km = 84k miles, $500

Owned by little old lady! Non-rusted out Canadian 1st gen Suzukiclone = unicorn! Garage kept!

Unfortunately, it's got a slushbox. 5-speed conversion candidate? Adds 20 MPG instantly!

Gotta love the seller's comment:

I think these cars came in around 1650 lbs -- one of the few cars lighter than Lotus' fancy new super lightweight Elise.

2004 Prius government science project? $1500

Brave or stupid to consider this?

Former government car with TWO ailing hybrid packs, display problem, but only 172k km = 107k miles.

Quote:
Date Listed 09-Apr-17
Price $1,500.00
Address Laval, QC H7N5Z2
For Sale By Owner
Year 2004
Kilometers 172,000

2004 Toyota Prius with a mileage of 172,000 km.

This car has several issues, so please consider this in your decision to purchase this vehicle. I'm mainly selling it as the HV battery seems to be on its way out. As such, this is a final sale sort of deal. It will be up to you to inspect it at your expense.

---Issues---
1. Car currently displays master warning light on the dashboard along with the check engine light. After about 20 minutes of driving, acceleration is severely affected and it takes about 15 seconds to get to 40 km/h even with the gas pedal completely depressed. This issue is most likely an issue with the HV battery.

2. The display in the car acts up roughly 50% of the time, meaning it's unusable for those times.

3. Car has a $400-$500 repair that needs to be done. The left suspension spring is broken and needs to be changed.

4. I bought this car from the government and they installed another battery in the back of the car. Due to a lack of proper maintenance on their part, that battery doesn't work anymore and takes up the space for the spare tire.

5. Only the driver window rolls down; I think this is related to the first problem though.

Other than that, the car has been maintained regularly. There are fixes available for both the battery and the display, but you need to be pretty handy to fix them. Ideally this car would be good for anyone wanting some kind of project and doesn't mind working on hybrids.

I'm not actually considering this one. TMFP! (Too Many Projects!)
