I'm not so much into customs, but this Iraq-spec Passat somewhat Americanized looked quite cool

'50 was the very first year for official imports of the Beetle here in Brazil

'96 was the very last year for local manufacturing of the Beetle in Brazil, considering the hiatus between '86 and '93

I'm not sure if this one actually served as a taxi here in Porto Alegre, but in some surrounding cities there were no standard colors for taxis until recently

I see this once in a while

Yesterday while walking the dog, I saw a 4WD sand-rail with a VW EA827 engine mounted at the rear. Well, now that idea of (re)building a Beetle on solid axles doesn't seem so pointless at all...

You could take the powertrain from a 4wd waterboxer westie but I'm not sure why.

Provenance? It looks like a Brazilian roof on a German body. Maybe [copy]cRiPpLe_rOoStEr[paste] will chime in.

It's nearly unobtainium here. Maybe a Subaru 5-speed transmission could be reverted in order to provide the same effect anyway...

In case, you know, anyone wants to buy it!

Nowadays one of those would have four close-coupled big flotation tires like the Sherpa 4x4 or/else tracks like the Ripsaw tracked vehicle.
