Chances are looking better and better that I'll have the XFi ready so if you want to drive a Honda about 1000 lbs heavier than you're used to driving, let me know. I bet Tim would let you rock the Turkel too with him being all busy with school and such, but I'll let him speak for himself.

Hi all!
Sorry for the lack of progress, but I've been working on other things. If anyone wants to read about my thesis, I'll send you my proposal
In any case, I'll be home next week for thanksgiving. I'd like to get the car working to drive back to school by the end of it.
Theoretically, I have wednesday, thursdays, friday, and saturday free to work on the problemo.
Anyone wanna help?
Thankssssss guys.

Yay! It would be much appreciated. Before I head home I'll try to rub the brain sticks together to solve and potential theoretical issues before I head down, but I mostly need help right now with just getting the exhaust done, knuckles swapped, shift linkage in, and stuff put back together.

Working on it now!
Kind of at a sticking point due to some of the annoyances that thanksgiving provides, but I think I can get some wiring and stuff done later tonight even if I can't get access to ball joint tools for my knuckles or do the exhaust due to noise.
First, a question. Anyone have tips for the UCA ball joint on hondas?
Now, I'll try to make a list of what I need to do, just so I can stay on track:
- Fix the fuel line. Currently I can't mount the fuel filter on the firewall AND have the fuel line reach the fuel rail. Either I need to find another line or go ahead and figure out how to hang the stupid fuel filter so that it'll let the line reach.
- Clutch hookup. Need to figure out how to work this hydraulic clutch junk that nobody in their right mind would like.
- Axles. Swapping the knuckles and shoving the axles in, etc. Not too big of a deal I don't think, but I need a pickle fork.
- Exhaust. Need to weld some sort of crazy s-bend together. Probably not going to be the prettiest thing in the world.
- Immobilizer bypass. I bought one but I don't know if it'll work out. We'll see. I think now this might be the source of my power issues?
- Other wiring. Things like brake lights and heater controls are anything but working at this point, I'd say.
Hopefully I'm not forgetting anything truly important and I manage to get things together. I'm a little apprehensive though. We'll see! I'll update if I remember more tasks.

The UCA - Slide a bottle jack into the area between the UCA and the top of a junk axle stub, jack it up, and when there's a bit of pressure on it (not insane pressure, just when it's snugged up) whack the side of the area that the ball joint seats into with a decent sized mallet, and it will pop loose. No pickle fork required.
You could also just drop ~$20 and knock the balljoints out by placing the nut back on the threads upside down (castle splits up) and whacking it with a hammer upward until it pops out. You'll want to replace them after doing this, though. They're held in with split rings, IIRC.

I'll probably just buy the proper tool for the job, eh? I imagine I can get a pickle fork at any old place.
Glad to see you're still alive. Hoping to get some massive work done tomorrow. We'll see

Yeah, I'm around still... Had some family trouble the other day... viewing's tomorrow, but I'm not going... but obviously, I'm not totally in my correct presence, though.
I dunno about those pickle forks... they take awhile to use properly, and usually damage the grease boots, in my experience. The jack thing isn't the easiest to do, but if you've already got the lower joint out, it's the easiest way to do it with things you probably already have.
Either way, though. You can rent a ball joint fork from the parts store and that way you don't actually have to buy it.
LOL While looking for a part for Will, up there, I finally realized that I really need to clean up my crap pile of Honda stuff, and probably most of it will be recycled. At this point, a large percentage of it is just "spare parts" that were never really worth much, but I had them, so there was no reason to throw them out.
I'm still working on getting those two Metros, too. I'm going to wait until I can physically tear into it to get a good look at the rust and see if it's worth salvaging.

Don't forget, eventually you have some springs I might want
I'll see about the ball joints tomorrow. Today was a kind of useless day.

I won't throw away the good things, but I've got like dizzy parts and little insignificant nuts and bolts that only I know what they go to, etc., and different pieces/lengths of wire that I could use for different things, and I seriously doubt I'll ever get a 4th gen Civic or 2nd gen CRX again, so aside from using them for modding other stuff, I don't think I need to keep them around. I'll separate those springs and keep them handy for you, though.
