Got a torch? Heat 'em up, and you're gonna need new balljoints if they're that bad.
The jack method is still available at this point, if you have an old axle stub and a mallet. You should see a flat riser on the side of the ball joint taper point (on the knuckle), you can whack that good and it will temporarily deform the taper point enough to let loose on the ball joint. Or, since it's already done for, you could just put the nut back on and whack away at the head of it.

I've decided to go ahead and give up. If I don't, I have a slim chance of finishing but a big chance of a stressful time trying to get home. I am just too tired from school right now to put my full effort in. I will come back with a vengeance in about 2 weeks though and finish up in lovely december when I have about a month of freedom to work on it!
Anyway, I got most of the exhaust done and some other stuff, but some tasks like the knuckles seem pretty out of reach at this point. We'll see when I get back. first thing I'll do when the exhaust is on is see if I can pop some of the DX axles in and start the thing up. Time will tell.

Probably for the best if you can't give it 100%. Not the kind of project you want to screw up details on.

Priorities
Sounds like you are making progress SVO.
Probably a good decision to get back to Hangover unstressed and ready for school. Hope you find a ride back that works out.

Yeah, I would be interested, not that my opinion would be of any help. PM it.
After mid terms (if called that) you can go back and work on the project some more with a fresh mind.

I concur.
Things should get a little easier once I'm back "in the mix", and have my own space to work on things.

Go buy a 370K5 (37") or 5PK935 (935mm) belt, or the nearest size that they *do* have.

You mean you want to cut part #7 in half? But that's a $700 part! Not to mention that it's the cat. Maybe you could make an elbow before the cat, and find room for it farther down the exhaust.
So, how loud is the Insight's 1.0L without a muffler?
I was really hoping you'd get your car in a condition to limp to N.H. so you could work on it and play with it there, but I can't hold it against you for failing to complete an unprecedented engine transplant in a weekend or two.

Nope, didn't cut that in half. Cut something out of my CRX exhaust in half.
However, I do have a cut in half $700 cat in my garage
