I saw where Scott Adams blocked Styxhexenhammer. Here's the response:

I'm not big on blocking anyone, and never have. Seems childish to me, like "I'm not talking to you". I get that some want to keep the S-posting to a minimum so as to not scare off the timid. From my perspective, I'm not interested in entertaining the timid, who can be maneuvered at will. It's up to individuals to take the initiative to mute those opinions they either can't handle, or present as needless noise.

Scott says he never intends to mispronounce names, so I'll take him at face value. I can never remember Styx's handle because it's too convoluted and I'm ignorant of any references contained within.

2 smug know-it-alls don't get along. Go figure. I'll have to listen to learn where the conflict occurred. Scott somewhat recently had a meeting with, I think, Russel Brand fall through. He's (Adams) been crossing too far over the thin line between order and chaos lately.

I listen (not much to see) to SA after the sip so I can get a more natural pacing at 1.25 speed. I have listened to a dozen or so clanks, though I don't know the origin of that saying. He's a smug person too. Smart folk tend to condescend.

The shared attribute is that both present a genuine character to their audience. I'm confident that SA and Styx would both be the people they are public facing. I appreciate those that just say what's on their mind; etiquette be damned.

Just yesterday I had figured out the chaos of people, signs, and doors to get into the Keller auditorium and advised inquisitive people of what the system was, only to learn I was completely wrong as I arrived at the door. Smugness is likely to lead more astray than any other personality type.

Generally though, confidence arises from being generally correct. False confidence; don't know what to do about that.

Have you listened to any Peter Z. lectures? They're all approximately the same content, but fascinating to see predictions made pre-pandemic and pre-Russian invasion prove accurate within the years predicted.

Month old title did not age well. To be fair, he did say the window would/could close. The Kerch Bridge was repaired and reopened. Almost as fast as DeSantis's bridge in Florida.

I think Scott Adams is right about Russia being a natural ally. Did you know an American Expeditionary Force invaded Russia in 1918-20?

Like most things, I didn't know about the US invading Russia. Was it Russia then, or USSR? More things I don't know. So Red Dawn already happened for them. That was my boyhood fantasy, before I knew about the movie. Fight off the invaders and provide comfort for worried women. Weird how that's internal programming and not a social construct.

Try one of the longer videos. He's as egotistical as any other interesting person. Smug confidence. As I argued on another forum that introduced me to him, I agree that all his premises are sound, and his predictions about the future are wrong like everyone, because the number of variables and the timeframe act to confound understanding. He's not wrong because he's dumb, he's wrong because he's finite.

Here's a tangent to chew on; recently I commented that Obama was not wrong to try something new with regards to the US system of healthcare, despite having found among the few ways to make the system worse. It's close to as bad as it could be, so that's a good problem to work on. Making it better should be achievable.

To really annoy folks, I bet healthcare would be better in the US if Obama had implemented his vision of healthcare dictatorially rather than promote a plan that could pass for a time.

I'm not saying expanding bureaucracy and state dependence is good; only that there's a limited set of ways one could make our healthcare perform less optimally. We leverage all the hazards of socialism and capitalism while managing to avoid most of the perks of each.

Those who can accurately describe objective reality are exceptional. I think of Buckminster Fuller's Synergetics and Arthur M. Young's Reflexive Universe.

After Czarist Russia there was a struggle between the White Russians and the Red Russians. At the time in question, the Red Russians were being ridden by the Bolsheviks like a pony.

I do say authority to the smallest divisible unit capable of handling the scope of problem. Biden doesn't need to plan my meals, and I don't need to plan foreign relations beyond a few individuals I encounter.
