Exciting day with our first real heat of the year plus an amazing tailwind. My UG reads low so whenever I fill up I'm always pleasantly surprised that I did a bit better than the UG was telling me. Well today I topped out at 80 mpg and ended up with 74.6 mpg by the time I parked. Tail winds rock! That boosted the tank average. Filling up tomorrow. 19 gust 41 km/h

Brucepick I was just looking at the Team Honda rankings and I've got you in my sights...
You just might catch up to me! I've been off the road from Apr. 3 till yesterday due to surgery on my clutch foot. You'll see no fillups in my gas log for that period. I drove a bit yesterday but I'm not sure the foot really liked it. I'm picking up the Civic from shop today; I had them do brake work on it.

So we'll see how things go when I start driving it for real! Hopefully tomorrow.

New fuel log entry. Beginning to love driving with this transmission. See log entry.

Still working on calibration. I have a 70 mile (each way) drive coming up late this month on each of two consecutive days. I'm going to plot that route carefully and hope to consider the findings final.

Three tank average over 50mpg! Part of that was a long highway trip (500+ miles each way).

The long trip made one thing clear, I really need to get after some maintenance issues soon. Once the kids are out of school so I don't have to drive them around, the Civic is going under the knife (under the wrench?) for most of the summer.

Needs:
New muffler (it fell off...)
Timing belt/water pump
Transmission
Shocks/Struts
Compliance bushings (rubber bushing in the front LCAs)
Engine mounts.

I didn't post a thread. The info is distributed across several threads, the most important is the trouble-shooting thread titled something like hub or brake rotor problem. Others on the swap were about calibrating the odometer after the swap, hypermiling technique with the CX/VX gearing, and a DIY for removing a "spring pin" from the shifter assembly for a Civic/Acura. Not really conducive to feature listing. But thanks for the thought. Couldn't/wouldn't do such a swap without this site (and honda-tech.com, which I learned about here at EM). I have learned some important things about the specs of D-series Honda transmissions that would be useful to gather into one place for all.... right now it's on my car's page only.
