Ha - me too!
Which is why I'm slightly disappointed at the early sales of the Mirage in Canada. It's doing reasonably well in the U.S. (over 1000/mo in the first 2 months of "full supply", beating expectations), but selling less than 200/mo in Canada on average. So, it'll be easier to find used up here than the 1st generation Insight, but not by much!

I wanted that car too, so much so that I went for a test drive in it.
It was horrible. It was very small inside, my then 3 year old daughter had no leg room when I set the chair to my length, back upright and all. The indicator stalk has a seam right where you touch it; it irritates with every touch. Nothing feels solid.
But worse than all else combined is the low torque at low RPM.
At a T junction I tried to pull away in first gear, RPM just above idle. It is a diesel, right? It went creeping forward at 5 km/h. hmm, more gas. Nope, still creeping. Traffic was coming up. Planking the damn thing! 7... 8...9...10 km/h... planking in first gear! INSANE!
Only past 1300 RPM did it really begin to accelerate, and jolted forward at 2000 RPM.
I was so happy to get back in my old Nissan Almera. Never liked it as much as I did after that dreadful test drive.
Next stop was the Honda dealer and the rest is history.

There is a car that I desire, that I plan to one day obtain. It is not exactly eco friendly, but I would like to eco-ize it- is it fair to bring up? lol

I haven't tried it yet, I did ponder a Fabia Estate (same car, different badge) with a 1.4 TDI in it which drove OK but the seats were very poor - it was a base model, furry seats, basic radio, plastic wheels.

The Fabia is on the same platform but different in size; notably more roomy inside and a bigger boot. The 1.4 would be the old Fabia? Slightly less economical if you drive slow, but all the same if you don't.
My neighbor at work has a Fabia 1.2 TDI Combi as a lease car. Says it is a slug even if you rev it. He just got it for the space, drives it hard and gets maybe 18 km per liter, say 40 mpg US. He has had a lot of damage to the windscreen, both chips and full through bursts.
Other than that, he is satisfied. Takes long trips to Germany, no complains about the seats. But would not buy it with his own money.

I have an unnatural love for these...
The beauty:
11 city, 17 highway. I'd love to get with one. Total grille blocking. Boat tail. 100% underbody. Of course an SCii so I know when the engine is going to catch on fire...
These are a thing of beauty to me. I respect others views on being ugly, or this and that, it's welcome criticism, but this is a dream come true to me. The four wheel/all wheel drive, 5th, 6th, 7th only being rear, the control to make it just rear. I would rather have a standard to EOC with, but I guess I could live with paddles. With ~650 NA horsepower, I don't know if I should be trusted with a clutch.
Not sure how it only gets 11 in city since it has start stop. But firing up 12 cylinders so often can take a lot of fuel.

My 1974 Olds Delta 88 gave me 11 city 16 highway, under the old EPA formula. This is a relatively sipping vehicle, it seems.
