I lived at sea level from 2006 to 2010.
I made sure to get out of there.

Just a guess, but four years and out sounds like he had a head instead of an outhouse.

Those are valuable skills. I believe New Orleans took advantage to some extent.

They did, but only after Katrina. They had a plan before that which would have made a difference but never came to execute it.

Moving out only shifts the problem to the people who take over the house; who are probably poorer and less able to cope with disaster.
That’s basically what happened in New Orleans.

They probably have a plan today, for all the good planning does in the face of the politics involved.

If I could have the house I want, it would be built as a circular houseboat in a dry dock. ...with a short anchor chain coiled up underneath. And vented to break suction if it floods.

And because of our retarded government you would still have to pay flood insurance on it if you still owed any money on it.

Not being amenable to debt is why I don't have it in the first place. O'course I'd build it that way, in or out of the flood plane, to insure it's off-grid. And to earthquake-proof it.

well, that was off-topic.

The Suspicious 0bervers are having their conference in New Mexico. They introduced a speaker's new website on today's news:

Discover the Sun!

I haven't done more than bookmark it, but apparently the take-away from the talk is that Solar Cycle 23 (2000) was the lowest maximum in 100 years and Solar Cycle 24 (just now) will be the lowest in 200 years. The Maximums are getting lower and the minimums are getting wider.

Also Windy.com have upgraded their graphics. In addition to the vector matrix, which they call particles, they've added isolines. That's what you are used to seeing on the TV weather. Both are switchable.

https://www.windy.com/

But I haven't figured out how to get the non-Mercator map projections.

2 different papers coming out showing a direct relationship between increased volcanism and reduced solar activity allowing more cosmic rays to reach earth's surface.
Not good.

I see nothing in this article which talks about even a hint of dangerous impact from deep space cosmic radiation for humans on the surface of the earth.
