My impression from some of the climate scientists,is that 'prudent' has worked out for us,since 1957.With the best,high-resolution numerical models, there's a high probability that we're already into,non-linear,amplifying,self-reinforcing feedback loops, which will push us beyond irreversible thresholds, unless we not only cease to emit anthropogenic greenhouse gases, but remove some of the gases which are already in the atmosphere.
Today,Australia is electing a new prime minister. The number-one item on their political agenda is climate change. We might want to follow their lead.
Precise prediction has been the enemy of the good.Shareholders for Oxidation have taken on the same complexion as Sacklers for Oxycontin.

Rand Corporation and climate change
I went to the Rand Corporation,Santa Monica,California website, and to their section on climate change.
There is an essay:Resilience and Adaptation Strategies Can Address the Impacts of Climate Change.
Within the essay they provide links to specific topics, related reports and other materials.
Over their history, the personnel of Rand Corporation have been considered some of the smartest people in the room.

World investment in wind and solar has stalled due to poor financial return on investment. I guess what is needed is to start phasing in a world carbon tax right when it comes out of the ground. Which creates the fund for mitigation/ relocation and support of basic living needs.

"At the end of the day investors aren’t just going to put their money on a good story, their main objective is to make money from these investments. A look at the renewable energy sector fundamentals analysis shows that the total rating of all listed renewable energy companies fundamentals is just 3.9 out of 10, a rating that signals the renewable energy sector has very poor fundamentals."

It hasn't stalled, it is just growing at the same rate for a short while instead of exponentially. But as oil prices got way up this won't remain long like this.
Suppose now Iran and the US manage to get into a totally avoidable war. Oil prices will go boom and renewable projects get so profitable everyone will be scrambling to jump on.

Successful carbon capture, sequestration, and atmospheric CO2 removal would be the most painless solution, but if added to 'hidden' costs,I don't know how they could look economically attractive at all.
And I don't know by what metrics, the ratings are established. If its someone like Moody's Investment Services, they could be pulling numbers out of their backside.
Last night on CBS,they reported on a new report on climate; saying that we're now looking at 9F increase by 2100.That will be 18F at the poles. If so,it's game over.
