If people used common sense there wouldn't be a disaster or it would be greatly minimized.
I don't understand how people can live in a triple threat or more disaster area can be so oblivious and just hope it will never happen to them.

I was riffing on your name-calling. I don't have a dog in that hunt. I do enjoy watching the give and take between a Biblicist and Constutionalist.

I don't know what an iffy subject is.

I'm saying something about dying because it's pretty important to most people. I don't require permission from anyone to bring up a subject, especially if it's relevant to the topic of political mitigation of climate change.

You took my comment out of context, as far as I can tell, to deliberately paint me in a bad light. The evidence suggests your intention then wasn't to discuss/debate ideas, but to slander me. Perhaps that wasn't your intention, and it doesn't upset me either way, but you've yet to elaborate on what you meant by taking my comment out of context and replying to it with other quotes of scripture taken out of context.

Finally, you imply that I'm anti-science. I'm willing to see evidence of my comments that would suggest I'm anti-science, but as far as I recall, I have been nothing but supportive of climate science among the other sciences.

When this thread started, I probably leaned more toward doing very little to mitigate climate change, and have moved my opinion to include taking more action than I was previously prepared to accept. So it's not like this discussion is pointless or that I don't listen.

As I've said, and which nobody has objected to, when there's a person claiming imminent threat, and that there's no time to think but only to act, and that they are among the few that can save us, and that we must grant them authority... is pure corruption.

This strikes me as a straw man: who is saying that? The IPCC has released its reports to the public for decades; the thousands of studies are readily available to the public as well, and a lot of them originated at public universities, funded by taxpayers; the assessments of each IPCC report have gotten less rosy until finally some politicians are taking up the call to address this somehow, and they're putting forward things like proposed legislation which has to be voted on before it can be enforced. I'm not seeing anyone saying "there's no time to think but only act" (we've had decades to think, most people ignored or avoided it, and a huge number continue to do so) or "that they are among the few that can save us" (all the rhetoric I hear is that this will take a massive collective effort).

Or are you referring to something other than climate change? (I haven't been following all the posts here too closely).

Wanted to get away from the east coast rat race, like Baltimore for example.
I love my global warming here.
The old farmers used to call this area "the dunes", like sand dunes. It's all green from March to October now.
