Wow, did you have any "magic streetlight" runs where you just kept rolling through the greens? Last week we were on Ventura and it seemed like we went 5 miles without hitting a red light. Probably only 3, but it *felt* like 5.

I drove 30mi south, into some gentle hills, on the throughway. I got 68mpg on the way there, going 62-64mph the whole way, and lean burning most of the way. 65mpg on the ride home, despite the descent, because I drove 74mph for the first third of the way, forfeiting lean burn.
I'm very happy with both numbers. If I had my summer tires on, it would have been 70-something mpg, plus the lean burn window would be wider.

6°F = a hard earned 50.2mpg today. Almost no lean burn or regenerative braking.

I believe my Tempo has a 12 gallon or so tank. Today, I switched my air filter out for the old paper filter. At first, the engine quit a few times because the ECU didn't fully recalibrate, but it was okay after. A little less power, though. The weather was a LOT friendlier than it has been, with no rain all day and a sunny, low 50's afternoon.
The car seemed to run a little warmer this morning, but the needle moved just over halfway between hashmarks. Since there are 6 hash marks, that would lead one to believe that each mark is 2 gallons. If that was true, I would have gotten almost 40 MPG today. However, taking into account the past E and F capacity, I may have hit my goal of 30 MPG. I'll see what the final calculations are after this tank is used up.
