It happened again.
My drive to work:
And after work:
Something changed that allows me to do most of my commute in lean burn, and to do lean burn within a minute of starting the car, instead of after five miles. It's probably a combination of factors: higher intake air temperatures, lower air viscosity and lower CdA, better driving style.

56.2 mpg on my way to work today.
Spring weather in the low 70's.
37 miles, one way.
Hoping to keep it above 54 by the time I get home. Less traffic at night is working for me but a slight uphill and lower air temps will probably work agaisnt me.
EDIT: Got home with 57.0 mpg.
Thats a trip record for me.
Second EDIT: No Sunday morning traffic, 75 degrees and a 20 mph tailwind that would gust up to 32 mph pushed my average up to 59.5 mpg!
Down side is we are looking at heavy thunder storms for my drive home.
This is so pushing me to aero mod my car to get to 60+ mpg. To hell with what my wife thinks. lolz

I have three words for you: Circulation. Tank. Heater.
Best $80 I ever spent for my Prius. I have full operating temp in my driveway in an hour. I got the 1500 watt number but you could get away with a 1000 watt unit, no problem. FE on short trips is dramatically better and several mpg better on longer trips.
You probably know already but it works like a coffee percolator, taking cold coolant from the low point of your block and circulating it up and around the block.
To get you to 55, The Acme Giant Slingshot is available from Wile Coyote Sooper-genius supply Nowheresville, Arizona.

heater can be cost effective, but I would suggest that it would be most "fair" if the extra energy being used be recorded, as I would for a plug in ev or hybrid.
It might be time for Ecomodder to add an electric fillup option? where you can record how many kwh you put into your car? or just add fuel type as a pulldown to the fillup screen, and once a week or so you tally up your electrical usage and make an entry?

I'll second the KWH entry. It should have a $ box though as prices vary wildly.
Got a record 3.2 L/100km 73.5 mpg commute today. Woot. 11˚C 7km. ( I average about 3.9 / 60 mpg)
I've noticed though, that battery SOC has a lot to do with mpg on short trips with the Prius. It was probably pretty high this morning. Need a 300V charger...

Drove 445.0mi today, 70.5mpg.
I mostly cruised as fast as lean burn would let me, for 75mpg @ 69mph typical on flatlands, much lower mpg on hills (as I would lean burn down hills at 74mph and pulse up hills at 50mpg). I may have confused a few truckers with my DWL.
Hit rain in Indiana. MPG and MPH both suffered.
I learned a few things about lean burn, boat tails, and the need for MIMA today. But more on that some other day. For now, I'm happy with making good time while getting great gas mileage.

This is an inspiring thread. I gotta say, some of your accomplishments are impressive. I stopped keeping track of the daily commute and went by the task instead, but so far this tank is at 55.8. Not bad, but still short of my 70 mpg per tank goal.

Commute home from work the other day:
The recently installed MPGuino plus the addition of more EOC to my bag of tricks has improved my mpg about 10%. I'm pleased! Currently working on figuring out exactly how to wire a switch for fuel cutoff so I can EOC without keying off the whole system.
