This was on Just A Car Guy today:
Just A Car Guy: Jimmy Doherty's Dream Builds on Wheels, a new tv show about turning everyday vehicles into extraordinary campervans; converting cars, vans, buses and trucks into awesome getaway homes, streaming on Discovery +

Maybe I should do this to my Superbeetle. With a fiberglass big rig aerocap cut down and curved front quarter windows.

Pretty sure they require a beam front end. Looked at this 30 years ago when there was a kit for it and found my super lacking. Pointless since the CFO said "NO".

Looking carefully at the orange one, it may have the super grille underneath the bumper.

There exist two type of Superbeetle. The '71-72 'flat-screen Super is iidentical to the earlier models except the [in this case] orange part.

That's a Marcopolo Invel, one of those odd Brazilian vehicles from the '80s when imports were severely restricted. Basically it's a coachbuilt Kombi, often with its air-cooled engine replaced by an EA827 in order to cope better with the increased weight and aerodynamic burden. Most of them have been converted into a motorhome, such as that one.

The kids these days call that 'gaslighting'.

The Super Bugger was featured as the cover story in a 1977 issue of Mechanix Illustrated magazine. Plans were available for do-it-yourself owners to convert their Volkswagen to a mini camper ...

It's not rocket surgery. Instead of that propane box, I'd want the tank behind the front bumper like a 1960s gasser.

edit:

The interior. Not too bad?

https://dornob.com/super-bugger-volk...o-bug-campers/

With portal axles and big shocks, this could have 8-10" added, with some taper in plan.

Layout of the table is odd and restricting to sink and stove use.

IIRC, squarebacks were rated 1/2 ton?

Not sure if they were actually rated as such, but they could be easily upgraded.

Consider that that table is replacing a Beetle back seat. The Superbugger/Minihome looks like a bob-tail to me. It could have an outdoor kitchen like the teardrop trailers. Except I'd go with a double gate boat tail, like the C-119

https://militarymashup.com/mmu_get_j...4832a04321d486

That thing could fly with the doors off, Similarly the Minihome could leave it on retractable jack-stands to do a grocery run.

IIRC my Type II was uprated from a 1/2-ton to 3/4-ton rear axle, so it's believable the Type III would be rated at 1/2-ton.
