Holy smokes!
Well that just makes me feel that much better about my own Prius.
Yeah, rest up. Crikey.

HOLY COW. Glad you're OK. Hopefully there are no lingering effects.

How did it all unfold? Sudden swerve into your lane from the opposite direction?
I hope they throw the book at the morons.

So you say the airbag hit you in the chest? Reflecting on this, would you say that you were sitting too close, or was it just that hard of a crash?

Sure sounds/looks like it so far. If that was the aftermath of a 60 mph head on collision, bill is very lucky indeed.

Agreed. If that were a motorcyclist there instead, they probably wouldn't have survived. Lots of people getting away with murder here by killing motorcyclists with their cars.

Level II body armor further reduces injury per belt & bag. (If you need the excuse). And a roller-lock PTR .308 carbine pistol to take care of the subhumans. Aim below the vehicle belt line.

This (past) motorcyclist once had to swerve onto the grass when an oncoming Toyota Pathloser or some other 4x4 like that cut the corner on my lane. I saw it coming straight on and knew I would die if I did not do something drastically.
I threw the bike on the grass expecting to drop it there, but I somehow managed to keep it upright. Wet the leather though, and it took me some time to regain the nerves to get rolling again.
Throw the book at them... well they were holding the book. And merrily chatting to each other. My sister is an officer and I hold the police in high esteem, but this was not a good day. Glad I did not ruin theirs by reddening their windscreen.
All I want to say is that to err is human, and the vast majority of people involved in incidents like these feel bad about it and would have acted differently if they realized what was about to happen.
It is better to be extra cautious than revengeful.

IIRC it's not unusual for Americans to not wear the seatbelts while driving in a car fitted with airbags. No wonder U.S.-standard airbags used to be bigger and inflate quicker than its European and Japanese counterparts.

Wow, what a nasty scene, so glad to hear no one with you was seriously injured. Hopefully you are on the mend and don't have any lasting effects, those sorts of things have a nasty way of leaving marks.

Not to belabor the point. Both I and my passenger were wearing seatbelts. The other car shot out of a side street at about 60 miles per hour. I was doing 30mph. He hit just in front of my right front wheel and sheared off everything in its path. The other car was being chased by a 3rd car due to an on-going road rage incident I was not aware of. The police caught that car trying to get away. Sadly the impact with my car sent the car that hit me into yet another car that was going the opposite direction. The driver who hit me showed no concern whatsoever about any of the people he hit once he was out of the car. I suspect that he was either drunk or high, or so amoral as to have no empathy for anyone else.
I never saw the other car before the accident. The airbags depolyed, and after that I was concentrating on getting my car out of the road to safety, and the condition of my passenger. My passenger is undergoing chemo and also has a heart condition.

You're extremely lucky you weren't driving 31 MPH!
(More specifically, your passenger is.)
