I've experienced mild pain from gaming on my phone for most of the day. Lesson is, don't game all day.

Our youth face much bigger problems though, such as limitations on free speech, which is a limitation on thought, and promotion of an authoritarian state. As Peterson mentions, compelling speech in a small way does not result in the death of millions, but it's the first steps towards that, and we don't want to even begin heading in that direction.

Even if it's not with thumbs, sometimes I still get quite bothered trying to type with a touchscreen.

It seemed like everyone was intolerant of my old phone:

I never understood why they cared.

Sci-Fi was very wrong, since they predict large real buttons with no mwritting at all.

Remember how Captain Kirk had to turn a knob to 'tune in' his communicator?

yeah...

But looking the deatils of the prop we see no very clear knob.

The tricorder used a small CRT. Even in 23 century they didn't fixed the damn LCD screens.

Knobs and pressinf buttons are important. Imagine a LCD touch screen, sencible, able to activate a detonation with a simple touch (perhaps accidental).
That' why the navigation console from bright, from Star Trek V to Star Trek VI went back a bit, for some commands, to pressinf buttons and simlars.

Star Trek V

Star Trek VI

Well, sometimes those sci-fi devices actually seem to be more intuitive to use than a touchscreen. Anyway, considering factors such as the recent reintroduction of a Nokia-branded regular phone and the "hipsters" who enjoy things that at least look old-school, even though I don't believe CRT screens to make a strong comeback, I believe some sort of physical buttons and other analog interfaces might retain their market share even as a niche-market feature catering to geeks, high-performance applications and accessibility for disabled users.

Sci-fi has gotten many things right, including the interface.

Star Trek correctly predicted doors that open and close for you, mobile communication, spoken commands to a computer, AI, among other things. We'll probably have something resembling a replicator someday, as we now have the ability to grow flawless diamonds or 3D print certain objects.

I don't believe we will ever achieve faster than light travel or "beam me up" transportation. It's possible we will visit our nearest neighboring star systems, but probably more likely that humanity is annihilated before then.

That looks more like a touchpad similar to the ones used instead of a mouse in laptops than a touchscreen.

Back on topic: at least here in Brazil it's still usual to find ATMs that have a CRT touchscreen, plus I have also seen CRT touchscreens in a handful of other applications. Well, even though it would be a lot challenging to the modern need for portability of electronic devices, it may in fact lead to some questions on to which point CRT was really so obsolete and difficult to adapt for stationary applications.
